Actually, I'm very interested in trying out different things with beading, so, it's all good. :) I too am not much interested in doing the beaded flowers, for some reason, they're just too odd for me.

And I totally hear you--I'm also obsessed with crafts and books! I only have two book cases, so, I have books overflowing onto the floor next to them in hip high piles. It's pretty crazy. [IMG]

My daughter is almost 8. She has become quite the little fashion plate lately. She likes to wear long skirts and the last pair of shoes she chose for school are oxford-type men's-looking black shoes with a pink flame design on the side. I think they are adorable. Anyway, she was very impressed with the whole package. She even saved the stamps. :) If you really want to send her something, she would love it. Maybe we could send you something?

I have a gal pal who I met at the Hemp fest, that does beaded flowers and trees. I, too, find them rather weird. I don't know why, but she loves them and I have to admit her forsythia looks like the real thing. Different strokes for different folks. [IMG]

LOL! I have books on the floor, too. I'm starting to wonder if I have a problem. I need to join book lovers anonymous or something. But I only keep the good ones, I swear.

Well, that's cool then. Beading flowers doesn't interest me and at first I was surprised that someone could write so much about it. But when I read your post I had a funny thought. At least I couldn't kill a beaded flower. In my apartment there are windows that get no light at all, and windows that get so hot that plants burn. Nothing else. Maybe beaded is the way to go.:H

I just bought that book that Levi was talking about, The Big Book Of Beautiful Beads. What a great book, or should I say 4 books. :) I tired the peyote stitch bracelet, making up my own pattern of course. Turned out pretty good for a first project.

    yay.... Happy beading,

    Kate

I've thought about that too! But, you know what you can do (although, truthfully, not many have escaped my clutches) is try out Bookcrossing.com. It's a neat website where people share their books by releasing them out in the wild (either by leaving them somewhere for someone else to find, or by starting a bookring to pass it around in). It's pretty neat. On the website you get a number to put in your book so you can keep track of it--if someone else gets it and actually logs onto the website, they can leave comments about the book, and you can actually see where your book has traveled to. ;)

I know what you mean about the plant thing. Although in my case, it's not so much lack of sunlight as to being death to plants. I don't know how I do it, but, I seem to kill plants. :(

If you don't care for the beaded flowers, you can always try making paper flowers. I have a Klutz book on making paper flowers, and some of them actually look quite good. It's not really hard to do, and quite satisfying when they're done. I like to do tiger lilies, as they're my favorite. :) Although they use pipecleaners for the flower stems, I like to get that green paper florists tape and wrap that around the pipe cleaner to make it look even more realistic--it works well.

Now that takes me back. I had a friend back in the day that did paper flowers - they rocked!
