When you don't want your cats to do something, how do you train them? Any ideas other then hissing or spray bottles?
Every time I look at my cat Newt, I'm reminded of Rudyard Kipling's Just So story, "The Cat that Walked by Himself". I reckon cats are absolutely, 'unto themselves'.
my cat does dangerous things, like walking on this small "tight rope like" metal thing that is a story high. I know cats have balance but it always scares me so bad and I worry. I think she does it to get my attention and I guess I give it to her by hissing at her to get down. Maybe I should ignore her and she would stop then?
I trained my cat using positive reinforcement "Get DOWN!" in a firm mommy-voice, with a cuddle and a coo when he gets down, but this might only works on cats that are emotionally codependant (hahah).
well i know with dogs they say that if they are doing something they're not supposed to, just ignore it because alot of the time they do it to get your attention. but you gotta remember cats have insane balance and are great at landing on their feet. our deck outside is about a story off the ground and my cat is always walking on the railing and im a nervous wreck when he does it but if i was a cat and could understand their sense of balance i probably wouldnt be worried
Hehe, true.... it just scares me so bad though and now everytime I "ignore her" (like I'm busy doing something) and she wants my attention that is what she does.
