I feel the need to rant about tattoos. I hate them. Why would anyone want to get branded with something for their entire life? It seems like the vast majority of people that get tattoos get them under false pretenses. Seeing as it is st patrick's day, the tattoo that bothers me the most is the irish cross that is so "cool" to get. a kid i know is a quarter irish(at most) and he has the big irish cross on his back. how can you feel that strongly about something(especially heritage) when you are not from the country, and your ancestors are not all from that country, to warrant getting permanent ink on yourself (for a lot of money no less). other tattoos that piss me off are tribal tattoos---these people can simply lick my balls. who fucking gets a tribal band?? also, i despise when girls get random crap in the small of their back b/c they think it's so badass. there are other types of tattoos that i hate as well but those are the main ones that come to mind immediately. if girls find guys that have tattoos to be attractive i think that is weak as well. "wow, what a rebel, [he gets a tattoo that half of american youth has]; he is hardcore, i'll go sleep w/ him now." well that is my rant. let me know what you think whether it is negative or positive.
If you get a Chinese or Japanese character on your body, you should be required to know what it means (not just take someone else's word for it) and be willing to explain it to anyone who asks what it means at any time. I find them annoying because it seems like such a poser thing to do.
I actually have pretty similar feelings to the o.p, despite generally considering myself liberal, for the simple reason that our bodies are already artwork. Im not really sure why some people dont appreciate that...and see marking a pure miracle of a creation, like skin, almost an insult, or blindness...like graffiti in an attractive park... I love and accept my body exactly the way it is, and have no desire to make changes. I know that whatever created my skin is more intelligent than me...that my additions are bound to be more like subtractions...and that if i felt it needed changing, my problem would be interior rather than exterior. I would never, however, support the banning of tattoos, or anything like that. Adults should be free to do what the hell they like to themselves...i just dont understand it, thats all. Its a bit of a mystery. Xx
yes, i agree very much so with you. i'd wager a lot of cash taht most people would be unable to explain their flipping chinese symbols..
My husband has a tattoo, and I find it rather sexy. Okay, not rather, but very. But for myself, I personally would never get one, they're just not my style. *shrugs*
I like tattoos, I have one, I think that they can be very very attractive some guy having some won't make me go sleep with him. If I already find him attractive, finding out that he has tattoos just makes him more attractive. I think that judging others because they decided they like tattoos and chose to get one is really quite ridiculous though. It's that persons body, not yours. The fact that someone else got a tattoo affects -your- life in no way, shape or form
3 days ago I got my 8th tattoo. I have gotten all 8 within the past 3 years and I'm 51. It's not something I jumped into, obviously. I'm probably done, but I love every one and have no regrets.
i have respect for you. that line alone is what gives me any respect for people w/ tattoos---"Its my own design and marks a special time in my life. " the tattoo styles i listed and the chinese symbols as well are atrocious.
I can't understand why what anyone does with their body would bother anyone, it just seems like such in intense waste of energy that could be used for something much more worthwhile. My boyfriend has quite a few, and they are all ones that he designed himself so he looks at as making his artwork permanent and being able to have it with him at all times. Right now he is drawing me a picture of a Little Brown Bat tattoo that he is going to give me for my birthday (and yes, bats are very important to me!)
well if you got to know me, i'm all about wasting energy. but the point remains....if you have meaning for them then ok, otherwise...no. also i think i detected sarcasm about the bats...have fun w/ disgusting upside down creatures inked on your arm for the rest of your life.
Sounds to me like you got some deeper personal issues to deal with if all your concerned about is who is cool and who is getting layed over tats. Cause maybe your not. Ive at last count have 27 tats...If I could find a girl who could shoot ink, ive the guns and would have many many more. So now I guess its on to the female who has six kids(oh hell who would want to do that to there body) Or maybe the horse shooter who bangs so fucking hard he snaps off the needle in his arm. Or maybe the construction worker who spends too much money on tools? Cool this is just your opinion and its your to give.....if this is all about you not getting noticed there are many ways you yourself can make a personal statement and get noticed. Think about it?
i dont care what other people want to put on their bodies. almost everyone i know now has a tattoo. they're pretty blah to me now, like, so what, you've got a tattoo. ive dated guys with and without them, makes no difference to me.
im never gonna get a tattoo. but some peoples tats are awesome. some people's tats are stupid. if i talk to someone who has a chinese symbol tat, i always ask them aobout it. they always know what it means, but only because someone told them. Theyre like "oh this means luck and prosperity". im like "what if they lied to you and it really means "I have herpes""
no, this isn't about getting noticed, it is just a 'random thought' really and it proved to make for moderately interesting conversation. i was just curious why people would do it, and some of you have made interesting comments in defense of getting them.
