us people down under tell the THRUTH WE ARE SICK OF YOUR LIES MAN NO WAY AM I WEARING WIRE MAN MAN im cold and frightend goodbye
It all started when a family friend handed me a stack of lps. The first one I listened to was the Beatles' White Album. Also in that stack was Hendrix, The Doors, Janis Joplin. Changed me forever.
i wanted to try drugs... and then i saw my friend reading "steal this book" so i got a copy (the title was very inticing). and after that i .. changed.and my dad was a hippie (kinda) and so i was inluenced by him with music and stuff growing up. my parents always told me i belonged in the sixties, even through my materialistic phase.
Well, like one day I dug through my mommy and daddy's record collection, and I was like, "Oh my god, a Janis record!" She looked so groovy on the cover and I was like, "I want to be like her, she's groovy." Then I found a Three Dog Night record and had a psychedelic experience after drinking 3 cups of coffee, while listening to "Shambala." Then I took my mommy's credit cards and went to the mall and bought some clothes that look like old hippy clothes. Oh my god, GAP has some of the best hippy jeans! Then, I bought some Birkenstocks for $175 on sale. Spencers is the place I went to next, and I bought myself some gonesh sticks and patchouli oil. I am very like unmaterialistic. Money is evil! Why can't people just live off the land? Well, after that I stopped washing my hair for like a month so I would get dreadies. Yay, dreadies!!!! I still haven't taken a shower since then because I was told that hippies don't take showers. Well, I have also been going to lots of Phish shows and doing lots of meth, and blowing lots of 50 yr. old men. The hippy lifestyle is groovy. Hippies are the coolest! Anytime I see a person with short hair and no tattoos or piercings I'm like, "You fascist! You are so square. I bet you wear a business suit to bed and love George Bush. Die!!!"
Pressed, God doesn't have all of eternity to read your posts. Well - er - I do but, I've other things to do. I scrolled rapidly and read your post though. You say nice things but what about these little things you simply don't mention? That sheep you rapeth when you were drunk? She's now pregnant...
What got me started was watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I got interested in the culture, and started reading about it. Then I started listening to music like The Beatles, The Who, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and stuff like that. And now, I've adopted their way of thinking, and their beliefs. That's how I came to be.
My parents are liberals, though yuppie ones. I think they approve of my hipness. I started getting into the culture when I got the White Album a few years ago. I was (and still am) in the offbeat drama nerd/band geek/artist clique, and I'm not the only one who has shifted to neo hippydom. I've always been into animals and nature since I could walk, so that area of the culture has always been in me. One of them introduced me to guitar. My goal in life is to be a starving novelist, so there's some beatnik influence. . .I guess it's a combonation of things.
