wow, it's a good thing we're not attacking each other over the whole glow-in-the-dark-pig issue. I just posted it because I thought it was funny.

Just for refrence I will list some more diseases that couldn't have been halted without animal research. Without Animal Research, there would be no advancment in Bio-Medical research.

Animals must be contained if they are going to be used to advance medical research, and there are strict laws called the animal welfare act in place to deal with humanity to animals used for research.

Millions of people are dying around the world for potentially curable diseases, while biomedical scientists have devoted their livelihoods to developing cures.

People like you stand in their way.

Have you ever written many letters to congress asking for more funding to help control how animals are treated in medical research. If not you haven't done all you could.

    Heres a short list:

    Maleria,
    Chrones Disease,
    Flu Vaccines,
    HIV vaccinations,
    Polio,
    Chollera,
    Measels,
    Mumps,
    Rabies,
    Whooping Cough,
    Diphtheria,
    Yellow Fever
    SmallPox
    Hapatitis A and B,
    Influenza B
    Rubella

There are tons of other devices that were tested on animals, Pacemakers, artificial hearts.

Millions of people are alive today who wouldn't be because of animal research.

Heh yeah sorry cerridwen, kinda taken over your thread. I understand that a glow in the dark pig would be rather awesome to view. I just hate to think what the poor pigs ancestors had to go through to make it so.

the only thing I dont like about this issue is the human race playing "god". where will this end?? there will be so many mutated species of animal and plants, and eventually humans.... I can see. all it takes is for research to get into the wrong hands, and youll have flying monkeys, and chaos.

also, nature has its own form of mutation, which is natural selection. if we are out there doing our own mutations, how is nature going to respond to that?? you can easily throw off the whole earth's balance with all this crazy crap, like glow in the dark pigs.

Right on. Im not a christain but 'playing god' to me means the same thing as 'playing with nature'. Animals weren't (I believe) intended for being 'used'. They can't speak for themselves. Humans think they are superior because of intelligence etc. Animals have no say....if Iand others like me dont speak up for them... who will?

    Humans are animals.

We have also evolved highly enough to consider the consequences of our action. Other animals have not.

During this evolution we decided it was better to have a pig die then someones mother. Would you rather your mother die of Rubella or a pig in a lab.

I promise you the pigs piglettes wouldn't feel the loss you would if god forbid, something happened to your mother.

People have decided that people are more important to people then pigs. I agree with this.

Ironically, flying monkey apocalypse is another reason I support animal research. [IMG]

Mother or pig? You know the answer.... so why ask? But I know for certain had the medicine been tested on animals, my mothers beliefs would be against it

sorry, you weren't ranting, it just sort of came off in a way you didn't intend with your first few comments. Like you were saying that anythign to do with animals other than cuddling them was cruel, no matter what

cookies usually contain eggs, and often contain milk/milk products as well (Tied in with milk and vegan/vegetarianism)

You're parents won't let you choose what you do and don't eat? That's bullshit, you're 16. You're old enough to get a job and buy your own food, if that's what it comes down to. At the least, you could join PETA or another organization with a similar purpose (and perhaps a slightly better methodology) and work on fixing the problem that way.

You still haven't said what you do to reduce animal cruelty in the world, other than avoid makeup...

I'm not trying to attack you, please don't take it as such. I'm trying to figure out what you're doing to support your beliefs... people are full of talk and no action a lot of the time whne it comes to stuff like this

I did know the answer, and my point was how easy of a choice it is for someone.

That's fine, I would prefer to have your mother or anyone with a life threatening disease take medecine to save their lives. But it is their right to refuse if their convections on the issue are strong enough to refuse.

They don't, in my opinion have the right to make that descion for the millions of others whos lives would be saved thanks to medecine derived from animal research.
