Aren't all "spiritual paths" based on some sort of philosophy? I don't think any of them are really based on fact...and if they ever were, those facts became so distorted or supressed that countries get terrorized for their beliefs (as in Tibetan Buddhism) or people go to war just to prove that their way of thinking is better than the rest. At least with Hippie-ism, whether you wanna call it a religion or philosophy, most hippies are opposed to war and open to others way of thinking.

I was wandering the same thing about why hippie was under religion... I think that if there WERE a reason, it would probably be that many hippies of years past (and some now) would take the aspects they liked from each faith (Jesus's teachings, budda's teachings, the spirituality of New Age, the thought of energy forces and karma from both hinduism and buddism, things of that nature) and sort of formed their own faith. I do that to a degree, although I put all my faith in Jesus and his teachings, I still think about chi and karma (in a way not relating to reincarnation), and wander if those were things that God may have created...

So I think that is what the question meant.

hippy is just a name that the system gave us back in the 60's,because we are different walks of life, and not robotic as they appear.

Whoever says hippy is a religion is clearly looking for some kind of religion / dogma in their lives.

After so many years of conditioning, people find it hard to let their minds be free and they will look to religion for structure, comfort (you will go to heaven), to experience group consciousness. By seeking out and joining a religion, they are giving away their personal power.

We can all contact God / the absolute as we are a microcosm of God / the absolute. We do not need priests / leaders / middlemen to contact IT for us. Use your personal power and stop giving it away to those who you think know best (but who in reality do not), empower yourself.
