if everything is god, then god was created maybe it's just an illusion the god i think god it's yourself, it's your mind, you are god for yourself or god is only a perception
"if everything was god, god was created" Why? If that's true, than what created the creator? And what created his creator? And so on forever. If we can accept a god with no creator, why not the universe itself? And if the universe IS god, then everyone wins!
Lib...are you serious? I guess you've come back from the darkside, enlightened now...I remember your Atman dream well also; dreams like that are very significant...I'm not surprised at what's happened with you, and happy to hear of it. Also noticed that you haven't been butting heads much with Campbell and JDFU recently, and Erasmus seems to have departed.
Dear Libertine, Sounds like the muse has slipped out of her gown for a moment to give you a glimpse behind the veil, to give you a real experience of the IS-ness of all of this. You see, anything you can honestly say about your experience IS true. The reality to which one refers when speaking of God IS true, but he/she/you/I/we/it, all of this, transcends all perceptions, understandings, thoughts, theories, descriptions, dogmas, dharmas, rites and rituals. God even transcends the duality of existence/non-existence. Of course, once one has experienced this, then sustaining, nurturing and maintaining this consciousness is the real accomplishment. Connecting with this consciousness and then sustaining, nurturing, maintaining this consciousness is one of the primary reasons for all religions to exist. It really is a simple idea, regardless of whether or not anyone understands and accepts it, or ignores it altogether. Peace and Love
We all await the answer from Lib... does he mean this? Has he come back from the "dark side" as spook put it... All I don't think it has to do with his being serious... the more you know you are God, the less serious you become about all this melodrama... the deeper you go into the cosmic joke... and get the eternal humor that is unbearable compassionate for all of itself!
I, as an atheist, reject the "theistic" version of "God". The Sky Daddy brand... I see "God" as being a vitality--pure consciousness. Thus, nothing has really changed except that I don't squirm over the term "God" as much now, because I see it in a different light. Call it pantheism? Maybe it is. Maybe it is... But, I've always said that I could see pantheism as being the most reasonable view whilst Theism as the most ridiculous. Pantheistic Atheism? Can such a thing exist?
Yes, to answer your question. Off the top of my head, out of the major religions: -Buddhism seems to hold closest overall to that concept, and I'm not familiar enough over all with Buddhism to give more details; there are different philosophical branches. -The term atman, as in your dream, loosely means "eternal spiritual self" and is the central concept in the advaita or non-theistic philosophical branch of Hinduism. -The dvaita or theistic philosophical branch of Hinduism includes both the concepts of atman and of a personal supreme God, but not the Sky Daddy variety. -And, of course there's Christianity with Sky Daddy; I assume the Allah of Islam is the same. You'll get plenty of answers here...I'm just starting it off.
I don't think you have to call yourself an atheist just because you don't believe in the "sky daddy". I think the majority of so-called theists have a less-than-literal interpretation, at least I'd like to hope so. Anyone who looks at the sistine chapel and thinks thats what god looks like kind of scares me.
