Ok...I bought some extra firm tofu and I attempted to make it (stir-fry) and I have some left over (meanwhile what I made it with I ended up not liking...so I just ate the tofu out...24 grams of protien for me...take that mom!) anywho....I was wondering if you had any recipies I could make with my half a block of extra firm tofu...

'Cause I'm not winging it again...turned out nasty...yeah.... tofu was all I could salvage...

Just cut the recipe in half. Oh, and the extra firm works in this-it may just take a little extra work for mashing.

    Tofu Scrambles:
1 pound firm tofu, patted dry and mashed
    1/8 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. onion powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup finely chopped vegetables (bell pepper, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, or whatever you like)

Place tofu in a lightly oiled saute pan and cook over medium for 3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, stir well, and cook for 5-8 minutes, until the vegetables are cooked and the tofu is heated through.

I also like to put a few pinches of nutritional yeast and/or herbs for extra flavor.

freeze for a yummy texture (well imo, anyway :) ) and then theres heaps of ideas -

kebabs with veggies and a lime juice/white wine/brownsugar and chilli sauce marianade,

steam it, and eat it on bok choi with a soy sauce and ginger dressing

Fry it with thickly sliced onion, pineapple pieces, capsicum, and a pineapple juice/cornflour/soy sauce/wee bit of water (and maybe red food coluring for authenticity :) ) sauce for tasty sweet and sour tofu

Its also fabulous when cooked with caraway seeds, orange zest and pineapple, when grated (slong with other stuff) and made into into burgers, baked and stuffed - mmmm.
Tofu is just a fantastic food really.
