Hi all. Just wondering why u turned veggie was it 4 medical reasons or cos eating meat is cruel? Or for some other reason. Please can u leave comments even if u eat meat, and why because im trying to answer v. rrandom questions 4 school
I'm boycotting the meat industry; due it's inherent cruelty and the demeaning attitude towards animals that such a practise promotes. Really though just couldn't find a single good reason to be eating meat, so just stopped. What questions are you trying to answer? Would be happy to help with those too.
Well theres no reason why you should eat meat! if you want some good information i recommend, Vegan The new Ethics of Eating by Erik Marcus its a really great book and i think youll get a lot of imformation for school.
Thanx for your help basically I need to say why people do and dont eat meat and i need loads of opinions on meat eating to answer my big question: should we eat meat.
i believe life is personal and everyone has to find thier own path. i personally believe we should not eat other animals, for many many reasons, ethics, environemental, cruelty, health i do not believe we have the right to play god and choose to breed animals and use them for our consumption peace, love and sunflowers
I switched for health reasons, plain & simple. Now I'm staying because of how the meat industry is run. Why eat meat? It's easy to find/buy and usually not too expensive. Easy preparation and high in nutrients your body needs. Basically, it's easier to eat meat than to figure out how to live without it. Why NOT eat meat? I'll let someone who'se been veggie longer than me tackle that one; I'm still learning the reasons myself! love, mom
"I went to a restaurant, and I saw a guy wearing a leather jacket, eating a hamburger, drinking a glass of milk. I said, "Dude, you are a cow. The metamorphosis is complete. Don't fall asleep or I will tip you over." - Mitch Hedburg
I love(d) Mitch H. I went veggie due to the reasoning that was given me. We don't *need* meat. Using Mill's logic, the amount of pleasure brought to me by eating dairy, eggs, meat, does not in any way outweigh the displeasure assumed by the animal. I am not neccesarily an animal rights activist. If I had to eat meat, I would. If I had to eat human meat, I would, more than likely. I don't know, noone can, but I'm pretty sure I would. There is also tons of medical evidence contrary to medical opinion that argues in favor of a plant-based diet.~
I became vegetarian at age nine, because I thought meat tasted nasty. And since my parents were awesome and supportive of my decision, I haven't touched meat since. 11 years now! And I'm now vegan, for more political reasons and environmental reasons ( and also because I think dairy and eggs are sick). I'm fussy... can you tell?
went veg in late 1980, spiritual searching led me to ISKCON philosphies. Later learned EVERY religion has textual basis for vegetarianism. In the intervening years, I learned a LOT about how we raise and kill animals, the overall big picture effects of continuing the consumption level we are at now, and the problems of harvesting seafood.
As soon as I actually realised that I was eating dead flesh, that was it for me! I was disgusted! I sort of had this realisation that eating a chicken or cow or whatever was no different to eating a human animal. I could never eat it again. Now I am vegan and glad of it!
I wanted to go veggie since I was 8. So I attempted to just about every year since then. When I turned oh about...15 or 16, I went veggie and stayed veggie until last year November, I finally went vegan. I went veggie/vegan because of the animals. The health thing was just sort of an added bonus really. At the time that I had went veggie, and vegan I didn't really care all that much about being healthy to tell you the truth. But, now since I went vegan, I am tons more aware of my health and what I'm putting into my body, so it worked that way for me. In my opinion it's cruel to use animals as "supplies"--- it's ridiculous. But, I realize that we don't live in my perfect world either, and everyone won't go veggie, so I can't say whether it's wrong or right for EVERYONE. If I could speak for everyone, I would say yeah, it is wrong, and needs to end... but everyone shares different opinions and beliefs and I accept that. I believe one of the most important things everyone must remember vegans, veggies, and omnis alike, is that we are all different, and its best to just respect each others differences than to try to change it if that person doesn't want to. I have met people who are interested in going vegan and will come to me for suggestions, so I offer them... but I try my best to never push my beliefs onto those who don't inquire about my lifestyle. So yeah. that's my two cents.
I started out for animal rights reasons... I saw a tank full of lobsters and i just felt so sad to know that those beautifull creatures would be boiled alive. that was the last time i ever thought about eating animals. but i only went vegetarian. as i got older i started learning more about dairy and animal derived products and decided to quit eating all animal by products. then i kept on learning about animal cruelty so i practically quit using or eating anything that came from animals as well as things tested on animals... it was a process... but worth it... i wouldnt change my lifestyle for anything...
I stopped eating meat because I was already boycotting animal tested goods, and I decided it was hypocritical for me to care about one but not the other. It was either give up meat or stop boycotting animal tested goods, so I gave up meat. I kept it up for many reasons, health, environmental, cruelty, human rights, whatever.
