and it makes me chuckle when people say there is A God, then tell you they are influenced by more than one planet You have a point though Love-Maxi.Xx
Well, olhippie said "it makes me laugh when they say theres no God then ask what your sign is"... This would imply that astrology (the effect/influence/help of the PLANETS) is, in effect, God...or at least a divine (higher) force... I therefore made the point that it would not just be the effect of the Sun, but rather the effect of all planets, which counted as God. I hope thats cleared that up. Probably not. Ill try again if i must Xx
there are many things of many sorts, even nontangable ones. whether anyone's idea of a god resembles any of them is of little pertinence to their existence, astrology, or anything else. and i don't see astrology as the influence of anything, but a speculative perception of possible, but unproven and probably unprovable indica. as well as to perhapse and even greater degree, a toxonomy, or classification system, of personality types, often, though not invariably, associated with time of year, or other cosmological indica. =^^= .../\...
i dont necesarily think astrology and god should be linked together. i honestly dont know all too much it, though i understand that people supposedly act accordingly to how the universe was positioned when they were born. so to say, like a code. how this connects to a god, in any way, loses me.
Well, its obviously a vast and complex subject. I personally believe that our souls or higher selves are working with the heavens, that these two are linked and have free communication with eachother...if these two forces are planning out major events, personality traits and whatever, then surely this must be some kind of God force...at least our God...its what rules our lives...causes us to be us... An alternative view is that the planets are simply an influence over us rather than equal partners with us...This corresponds to the image of a Biblical God...a kind of ruler/protector who makes all the decisions... Also, a natal chart is a thing so complex and so brilliantly designed that it has obviously be planned out by forces higher than our own conscious selves. Xx
it makes me laugh people even bother about gods and signs and don't just sit somewhere down and enjoy what god created ... nomatter what "god" created it - or what "sign" is experiencing the creation. edit: so i guess i'm with lithium - hèhè ... misread you post dude
Belief in God is different from having beliefs. I mean... by "God," which God are you referring to? The Christian God? Zeus? Thor? Are you simply using it as a catch-all to mean "higher power?" And whatever of these you mean, disbelief in it doesn't mean the person must also disbelieve in Astrology. There are atheists and agnostics who are spiritual enough to. I guess if you're talking about people who get up in arms over any spiritual practice, I can see your point. But not just "God." Plus, most people who ask Astrological signs aren't doing it out of belief, they're doing it for fun.
Word, Arrows Next Life. I don't believe in God, per se, but it doesn't mean I'm not interested in astrology and that I can't use it to better my individual person and learn about other people. I knew a guy once who believed in God and refused to look at astrological stuff because he felt it was a belief that opposed God. hmm.
Birth sign is a hard truth as your birth year. It has nothing to do with God, though your can connect them (in some religion?). Birth sign is the constellation in which the sun resides the day you're born.
It makes me laugh [bitterly] when people dismiss astrology because all they ever bothered to learn about it was the newspaper horoscopes. Astrology is a very complex and indepth study. Newspaper horoscopes are, when not simply BS, an attempt to be very specific about something far to general. Get your natal chart calculated then learn what all the planets, houses and aspects mean. Then if you still think astrology is phony you can dis it. I don't need to believe in a god of any sort to observe that natal charts tend to be eerily accurate. IMO astrology does far more to prove its truth than the divine. I am actually a theist, but I don't believe that my goddess or any other diety has ever proven the truth of its existence.
