Hello, I love this topic... Power would truely be in the hands of the people. No federal governments or bordered countries (that is, unless a group of people came together and set up borders and kept them at their own consent), so no official countries, but places are recognized for their differences in nature and culture, not which man holds some office. Government has expanded to each individual being their own state in the nation of earth. No money either, all hard labor resources are mined by automated machinery, machinery which is maintained by volunteer force of self educated engineers. With worldwide communication like the Internet, everyone can find what it is they're looking for and help others do the same when needed. All wealth is evenly distributed, but to the individual's personal taste, so it's not like fascist commies wearing the same clothes, and it's not like capitalism with different classes. Everyone's material worth is a manifestation of their inner being. So, you can keep a big two-story house in a city if you want, I'd probably move out more to the country and build my own place more assimilated with nature. For jobs and school, institutions would still exist, but since there's no money, independent buisnesses and artists can thrive just as well as those who come together to realize their talents and gifts. With no money, there is no robbery, theft, poverty, crackheads stealing car stereos... With no government, there is no wars (big formal wars that is, I'm sure there would be small tribal wars over land but that is something you will never solve outisde of brain surgery and total control, so I'd deal with the chance of roaming vagabonds to have this greater freedom, would'nt you?) Without today's rigid societal structure, many of the social crimes we have would disolve, as there is no mental stress created by these things leading to perpetrators commiting crimes. No more liquor store robberies, no more "daddy worked a shitty job and came jome drunk everynight and beat me, now i'm a serial killer" none of that. okay i'll shut up
i agree with what you say, about different zones for different cultures. I think each place should seperate from everywhere else depending on aspects of life one takes. In order for this to happen we would need a complete revolution, something drastic to happen in order to change people's view of the world. I think if we didn't have wars and spend so much money making drugs illegal we would be fine the way our country is setup. It would work well too because each state would have it's own law, so if drugs were illegal in one state, you would just have to move to another state where it was legal, that is if that was the case. Also, making the government totally on the people, not an elected official, only unless it was for townships would be my vision. With the technology these days everyone would be linked together to create a superstructure of ideas, basically like hipforums, a conglomeration of people from all over deciding how to maintain order. If it wasn't for our dependency on oil and the greed in the world, which is mainly because of the drug trade and corrupt capitalism, our world would be a much better place. Anyone up for a revolution next month?
KBlaze, What would you replace government with and what is the difference between state and federal government? I see the government(pure democracy) as a tool to achieve such a world.
A parliamentarian system with instant runoff voting. A free market that would still have social nets to help blunt the sharp edge of capitalism. Most issues should be decided locally, however, the protection of the citizens, and the protection of their civil liberties would be the responsiblity of a strong federal government, as well as the regulation of inter-state issues.
