What's your take on it? Do you like it? ... Oh and how's it different from chocolate, exactly? I just made some carob chip cookies and.. I mean they're okaaaay...ahhahah. Anyhow. Just thought I'd get your thoughts on it.
I like carob alright, but it doesn't taste like chocolate to me. It's better for my body though, so I try to use it 50/50 with regular dark chocolate in my recipes. Try it in something like an oatmeal chocolate-chip recipe where there's something else to taste and you'll probably not mind it as much. And try a different brand of chips too... I've found a few that I like, and few that I just can't stomach. love, mom
Carob chip cookies are good, but I don't like a lot of carob really.... blehhh I found chocolate flavored chips that are vegan though. Much better than carob....
I have made a carob hot drink from it and it was different but good. I like chocolate better. I guess it is one of those things, like you have to enjoy it on its own instead of as a replacement. Kind of like tofu. I use carob for my doggy's oatmeal cookies He is a veggie dog and he LOVES the carob-oatmeal cookies.
Ahaha. A veggie dog. How awesome. I actually did make carob chip cookies, and they had chopped pecans in them. Like I said, they were okaaay, but.. I like the 50-50 idea though. The pumpin carob muffins sound good. Thanks for the tips, all.
I find it to be a bit more oily and a more bitter taste than chocolate, but I don't really like chocolate. My kids love it, it's their treat after a hellish visit to the hfs.
I like carob chips, but the only vegan ones I can find are way too expensive, so I don't eat carob often.
carob is vegan... I think she might just mean that some of the chips have added ingredients. right? every carob chip I have found was vegan though, so *shrugs*
It's way more common that chocolate chips would have non-vegan ingredients. many brands are vegan though, you'd be surprised.
Usually I don't like chocolate, for some reason lately I've been having badass chocolate cravings. But I try to avoid chocolate with too much sugar and that isn't fair trade, so it's not something I eat often. I like carob, too, but I like it in itself rather than a substitute for chocolate.
The vegan carob chips are pretty cheap at my local HFS. I pay under 2$ for a bag of them So y'all wanna come over for my vegan carob pumpkin muffins? They are SO GOOD!!!!
