my hair was almost past my waist when i dreaded it. it's now barely shoulder-length. it was about 3 months ago when i started the dreads. they're now in the awkward, messy-looking, just-beginning-to-knot-up stage. please tell me they won't look this awful forever! they'll grow eventually, right?
klol babe *hugs* 3 month stage is they "worst" period... they usually look pretty terrible at this stage. mine are 6 months old now and still incredibly fluffy but a lot more formed, especially in the last month. just stick em out, get a few bandanas and head wraps, dont use wax cos it sucks and if u wanna wash em use ONLY natural soaps (the company Lush do good ones, i use juniper soap from them) and was out throughoughly (sp? :S) Good luck and remember have faith in the dread, they are like a tree and shall grow however they want to, no 2 dreaded people are the same and thats their beauty llama love Fleassy xox
ok yeah, the soap thing...i've posted about this before. we have hard water. hard water + soap (even natural soap) = soap scum junk building up in hair. it's where tub rings come from. i use cider vinegar to wash my hair. gets it clean, fights dandruff, removes buildup, and seems to be helping it lock up.
you made your dread? oh no. you must let jah work his mysterious ways!!!! just dont do anything. from the begining of mine i just let it go when it was probly mid back and it was a fucking rats nest!!!! oh lord . . . . i thought i had made the bigest mistake of my life. but my hardcore boyfriend at the time says to me let jah do it. so i just used a big piece of fabric and wraped it up. and i ended up with the most beautifull, perfect dreadies, and it was all worth it. and i swear its because i didnt do shit to it. wonderful year yeas, but before i drove across country i combed it all out with a fork. 3 weeks, lots of ripped hair and more pain than you can possibly belive oww
yeah I dont want dreads again at this stage although when I did have them they were indeed beautifull.
