Im doing the 40 Hour Famine this year..
I don't know what to give up though. Most will give up food, but one of mates are not going to talk for 40 hrs straight and she is a rea motor mouth, like shes yapping 24/7. It has captured alot of attention and heaps are sponsering her.
So i thought i should give up somehting creative aswell to raise more money for the starving people of 3rd world countries..
    What though?
I thought about not moving for 40 hours. But there is the issue of needing the toilet an i might cramp up or something..
    ideas anyone?

How per say are you going to raise money by not talking or moving? You should famine yourself from money, and save up all you earn to REALLY help those in need...

What about giving up your time and having a bake sale to raise money? I did not see in your post about helping others from doing it, I thought it was a personal thing, but the above poster mentioned helping others so I thought that might be a good idea.

im going to give my own money to the cause, all the sponser money goes to the charity aswell. And giving something up that attracts more attention attracts more money.
i get 20 a week from mum and at least a quatre of that goes to charity, but i do need need money for bus fair else id give just about all if it away. so i am trying to help those in need.
Bake sale is a good idea.. i have a month to think about it..
    thanks for the help
    peace

At the University I went to, this was a school sponsored activity. I think it was called "Fast for the Hungry" or something. You could either fast yourself, or you could sponsor a Faster. It made a lot of money for the poor. It was a 3 day fast, and the school woul even put out broth and juiice for the fasters in the cafe.

    It went really well.

Good luck. Your mind will clear and it will really help.

Green, not everyone is able to fast. That is why they have sponsors. Due to my migraines my doctor said I couldn't fast. But, I did sponsor a number of fasters. Not everyone can do it, but everyone can help, if they beleive in it. :)

I believe that one of the greatest things about fasting for a cause is the fact that you have to put yourself in the position of the people youre helping, who have no choice about whether they get to eat/drink/talk/whatever or not. Very enlightening, and helpful!
