i believe in choice for many reasons. but mainly this: if a person is unfit to be the parent of an unwanted baby then they basically have two choices besides abortion: they're either going to attempt parenthood (and fail miserably) or put the baby up for adoption. neither of those two are good. tell me, do you think it's a good idea to let a young girl who is financially unstable and just beginning to live her life ruin her life AND a child's life completely because of one life changing mistake? definitely not. and . . . tell me, is it good to let yet another child overpopulate the earth when there are already so many children worldwide who also happen to be starving and looking for homes? also not good. sure, it's more responsible to use birth control and just avoid the situation altogether but it doesn't always happen that way. in my opinion; abortion is a good thing. a woman shouldn't be forced to give birth to a child that she doesn't want. i respect your opinion but that's just what i think.
Hippies oppose violence and killing, and abortion is violence and killing, thus, hippies should oppose abortion. many people have compared abortion to holocaust, therefore it's hypocritical for non-violent peaceful hippies to support abortion. No matter what, i consider abortion as a violent act that should be avoided at all the time. We should save the child's life even when ours are endangered, the spirit of self-sacrifice and selflessness.
hey girls you gotta think logically...the thing has all its DNA ... it's a totally human individual.... the odd thing is that the Supreme COurt didn't care; they don't consider the issue from the point of view of biology, or medicine or whatever life is.... they justified Abortion based on a case that was based on the Dread Scott decision - where a slave tried to sue for freedom, and the Court said he wasn't a LEGAL PERSON !! and had no right to sue....so, the Court said the fetus was not a LEGAL PERSON with no right to be born..., They just wanted to control population, kill black children so their population wouldn't get too big....and get the rich little white girls off free from screwing around and getting knocked up by their drunk white boyfriends in college. so go to hell if you want to. Kill it. But give it a name, and have them send the death notice to your parents. Peace Love and Happiness...light a joint a try to forget about it....duh
Why....can't form opinions on your own? Babies aren't fully developed until right before they're born. Their lungs grow until then. Why do those religions matter in a PERSONAL decision when it comes to abortion? They wouldn't GIVE themself the chance to do that because people think of babies as a burden....not a gift. I would never have an abortion....and yes, I've been faced with that decision. But, I can't tell another woman what to do with her body. Her body, her baby box, her decision.
A sperm is not alive. It has no heart. Neither is an egg alive, it has no heart either. If something has a heart that is beating, then that something is alive. So if when you abort it, it's heart is beating, then you are killing. Whether what you're killing is a "human" or "person" is debatable, but it is alive, and you are killing it. I respect people whose opinion is that abortion is acceptable, and those who think that abortion is unacceptable. The people that I don't respect's opinions are those who think that abortion is not killing. If a heart stops beating, something's been killed. There are currently 3 forms of legal killing of a human being: War, the death penalty, and abortion. I'm opposed to all 3. In the past, I was pro-choice, but even then, I accepted that my opinion was in favor of the killing of human beings. So I say, whether you are for it or against it, don't deny what it is.
If you have your personnal reasons for such a decision like an abortion then so be it, but I really don't like hearing people doing it over and over.
Let's not forget self-defense. Or if you're from Florida and you "feel threatened." Yeeks. The court, in making its decision, threw out the moral arguments, because everyone has different morals, and as they said in Griswold v. CT, if you're going to outlaw birth control and say it's constitutional, you must also agree that making birth control mandatory would be constitutional. They took a standpoint of what is medically best for the mother, while keeping differing opinions in mind. That's why the health of the mother is always protected through the whole pregnancy, but states can also ban it (unless the mother's life/health is in danger) during the third trimester. I do not see a blastula as a human being. It does not and should not have all the rights of a human being. I don't have the medical background to make a judgement on when it becomes one, but I would say around when it becomes viable. Before then, the fetus is acting like a parasite in the mother's body, and birth could result in physical and emotional damage, EVEN if she puts it up for adoption (orphanages all over the world are overflowing with parentless kids, by the by), and she has the right to get rid of it.
First trimester only. No exceptions. I don't care what the reason is, but after or before that... first trimester only. You can't draw a line to for specific reasons (always debatable) so just make it first trimester only. By the way, those who think adoption is a good alternative, most of the foster children I've met say the system sucks. Don't torture people because you're stuck on a high horse.
parents right all the way. I could be overly intelligent about it and give political and ethical arguements along with references, but thats been done thousands of times so I'll be "shocking" instead. Prolifers with weak hearts may want to stop reading now Saying an embryo is the same thing as a child is as ridiculous as saying a child is an old man. That thing is a parasite within its owners body until the chord is cut.
personally and that is the key here, i believe that nature and life weather from god or otherwise should be protected. i especially believe that the strong should protect the weak no matter what. so therefore an adult should not destroy a baby who can not protect themselves. by the way a baby can be born as young as 25 week with a very high survival rate. then again it is up to the person because it is also not my place to pass judgement on any one.
I think there is a difference between a woman wanting an abortion b/c she was raped, and a woman wanting one b/c she doesn't want to ruin her figure. But the option should be open.
First of all, let me mention that your list of religions which are "against" abortion is wrong. Wicca and especially paganism (paganism is not a religion, it is a category of religions) do not have official rules on abortion, "pro-life" and "pro-choice" are personal decisions, or occasionally decisions of a group of people. In my own experience most of them are pro-choice, not pro-life, but it varies. I am pro-choice, for many reasons. For one, a huge percentage of the people who have attempted to argue abortion with me are men, and it is utterly disgusting to me when somebody attempts to dictate decisions for other people that they will never have to make themselves. Second, I base my ethical system on prevention of -suffering,- not prevention of death. God, you people act as if being dead is the worst thing that could happen to a person! Comparing a woman who is forced to carry a baby to full term against her will to a baby who lives in a comfortable uterus until he is killed relatively quickly is no comparison to me at all. I still favor pregnancy prevention education more than abortion (I don't know many people who don't), but I strongly believe the option should be available and legal to keep it as safe as possible for the people who choose to undergo it.
Abortion is very much related to globalization.... When the think tanks that pull the Supreme Court around like a dog on a chain realized that population growth follows the "J" curve (it can go straight up...) they turned to abortion to control the population of the growth sector...i.e. blacks, poor, 3rd world - those sections whose HUMAN NEEDS would demand OUR resources... so kill 'em off....starve them, don't give them our oil, ABORT them! put that joint down and wake up! What are you really all about??????? Nature is love, life, sharing, helping, being together with each other. What was woodstock about if not that? And you want to justify abortion? How totally outrageous....and sad. and cruel.
Good point. If you believe that, you need help. And also this bridge I've been saving for someone just like you... Same with this one. Where did this come from? Did you come up with this crock all by yourself, or did someone else feed it to you. How can you not see how dumb that is?
no not really....... this issue is more about a) whether a fetus is a "life" b) IF YES, THEN......whether the mother has the right to "take" that life The issue is not about how or why the mother came to be pregnant in the first place now is it? So its all or nothing.....I think everybody should have the right to an abortion.
so where's the bit about the 1,000 needles?? There are so many humans out there really feeling that pain, just wishing they were never born...try living in foster care.
I have always been for abortion and thats its the womans right to choose and all that. However, because of medical advancement premature babies are being saved earlier and earlier at the same time abortions are being done later and later, where babies of the same maturity are being saved and some are being murderd thats when i think it is completely wrong and selfish.
you can't have it both ways.... you can't be for abortion and then call it a wrong / selfish murder depending on the age of the fetus. this issue is more about a) whether a fetus is a "life" or not. b) IF YES, THEN......whether the mother has the right to "take" that life The issue is not about how or why the mother came to be pregnant in the first place now is it? So its all or nothing.....I think everybody should have the right to an abortion.
Two points: Whether you like it or not, abortion is legal most places. Get used to it. Bush and the Christians ain't winning this one. If you have a penis (myself included), you really don't get to have a say. It's not your uterus. If you don't like abortion, wear a fucking condom, idiot. Or better yet, keep it in your pants. Problem solved.
