I've recently started compiling a list of companies that don't use animal testing. I've known for quite sometime that Procter and Gamble is the worst. But what I didn't know is what exactly they own. They own Pringles chips! And allegedly own Pepsi products, but I haven't seen that for a fact anywhere yet. I'm trying to be careful of what products I use, especially if it's something I can't make myself. I've been trying to find websites that give info on how to make homemade cleaners, shampoos and such so I won't have to go buy it and contribute to some crazy corportation. I like wearing make-up (yes, I know, very superfical) so I found out that Revlon doesn't test. Unfortunatley most of the products on my list are very expensive. So does anyone else know of anything Proctor and Gamble might control? Or any other companies that do or don't participate in animal testing?
All major companies are controlled from the same place. If you don't wanna support animal testing, don't, but the same people ultimately control the companies that do and don't test on animals. The money is effectively going to the same place.
Didn't you know that they own Pringles? a list of (some ) of their brands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proctor_and_gamble#Product_brands See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Procter_&_Gamble_brands
My girlfriend found a list of companies that use animal testing. It's practically everything!! If anyone is interested, let me know!
i'm very interested in seeing that final list with all their products, so if you can post or pm me that be great! I can't believe all the products that they own. I can't believe that our society continues to let testing of products on animals. It's sooo sad.
i saw a doco about colgate palmolive about 20 years ago and animal testing. in that time apart from the odd toothbrush bought out of absent mindedness i have not bought knowlingly bought their products. my small part to play i suppose.
My daughter has known about these companies for years, and has educated me while we've been grocery shopping. As a result I shop very carefully and don't buy big name products. Must admit when she showed me the list, I was surprised who was there.
P&G also makes Sunny Delight. It's very very easy to avoid P&G products. I don't use a single product on either of those lists...it's not a matter of what to avoid, it's a matter of being less wasteful and finding money friendly and earth friendly products. It doesn't have to be expensive if you use the right things.... ps. a good house hold cleaning product to be used on EVERYTHING is a mix of water and vinegar. It stinks but i'm sure if you research well there's a way to mask the odor. I'd rather take the stench of vinegar then the grossness of breathing in toxic fumes from store bought household cleaners. Just burn a couple insense after you clean. The bonus: not spending $4.00/bottle. For those in Canada, check out Home Hardware....They're coming out with many new natural/biodegradable & non toxic lines of household cleaners, garden sprays, dishcloths, reusable fabric softener sheets and so on. very interesting.
P & G oh they are jerks to hual loads for too, always way way late getting you loaded and still expect you to deliver on time. They make so much stuff your head would spin. Dont forget they make many generic line products under different labels i.e. equate (walmart) products (safeway) ect and so on. Bleach normally not tested on animals kills anything and its already in everything, lol. No seriously there are tons of ways to clean without so called chemicals. Vinegar does good for lots of things and yes it smells very foul. Salt makes a great scrubber when added a liquid. orange peels, lemon peels, grapefruit peels (acid from) cleans very well too for oils and ect. Hard liquor works great too but sad to waste the good stuff.
Okay, here it is.....next to some of the company names I put the companies that they also own Arm & Hammer - Aim, Mentadent, Nair Bic Braun - Gillette Clariol - Aussie, Herbal Essences (Clariol is owned by P&G) Clorox - Brita, 409, Freshstep, Glad, Pine-sol, Softscrub, Tilex Colgate&Palmolive - Ajax, Mennen, Softsoap, Speedstick Coty - Adidas, Healing Garden, Jovan, Rimmell Covergirl - owned by P&G Dial - Purex Duracell Helene Curtis - Finess, Salon Selectives, Thermasilk Johnson & Johnson - Aveeno, Clean&Clear, Neutrogena Kimberly Clark - Cottonelle, Huggies, Kleenex, Kotex, Pull-ups, Scott Lever Loreal - Garnier, Lancome, Maybelline, Ralph Lauren Max Factor - owned by P&G Meade Noxell Olay Oral-B Pantene Pfizer - Bengay, Destin, Listerine, Lubriderm, Plax, Visine Physique - owned by P&G Playtex - Bannana Boat Other P&G - Crest, Iams, Tide Easy Off Lysol Mop-n-glo Old English Resolve Spray n Wash Woolite Veet Richardson - Vicks Sally Hansen Schening - Plough - own Coppertone and Dr. Scholls SC Johnson - Dran-o, Edge, Fantastik, Glade, Off!, Oust, Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles, Shout, Skintimate, Windex, Ziplock 3M - Post it!, Scotch Unilver - Axe, Calvin Klein, Dove, also owns Helene Curtis, Lever and Suave Chesebrough - Ponds - owns Vaseline and Ponds Church and Dwight - Arrid and Brillo Not complete by any means, but practically everything you can buy in a supermarket! Hippychickmomma I accidentally sent you the list before I was done typing all of it! Sorry Anyway, so it will be hard to avoid these companies, but I will try my best!
This whole list is completly mixed up. I mean Unilever and Colgate -Parmolove anr both huge corporations in their own right and nothing todo with P&G.
These are all companies that use animal testing. The ones that are owned by Procter and Gamble are noted with "P&G" or spelled out. You're right, Unilever and Colgate - Palmolive are independent companies. Proctor and Gamble is not the only company to use animal testing. This list is other companies that do so as well.
HAte to blast your list but Lysol and Old English is not P&G it is Reckitt and Benkiser the makers of French's mustard, Old English Polish, French's onion topping stuff, French's fried potato snacks, numerous softner dryer sheets, ect. Thier plants are in Bell Mead NJ, Springfield MO, Walcott NY, Pheonix AZ. They get their Airwick freshner containers from Mexico, dropped at Lerado TX yard and hauled by US Xpress trucks dedicated fleet. Here is link for ya http://www.reckitt.com/ourbrands/ourbrands_index.cfm I could tell so much about products, who makes em, who supplies the items to make em, how they get there, ect. That is my life, moving frieght all over this country and Canada.
looks like veet, woolite, lysol, old english, easy off, spray and wash, calgon, electrowash, jet dry, well you can search thier sight http://www.homesolutionsnews.com/cg...Y=&CATEGORY=&CATEGORY=&CATEGORY=&CATEGORY=All
for those wanting to mask smell of vinager in home made cleaning product use lemon juice, not the stuff with sugar just natural lemon juice. lemon juice is also a good cleaner in itself and baking soda. there are a bunch of things sounds weird but if you buy the book queen of clean she tells you how to make all kinds of your own cleaners with natural products.
Seventh Generation makes laundry detergents, etc not tested on animals and supposedly not harmful to the earth. I once did a search on google and located some places that sold this, and other laundry products not tested on animals. The cost for these is about double what you would pay at the grocery store. But they claim to be highly concentrated, long lasting, and effective. I had wanted to buy some but I was broke at the time, and didnt go through with the order. I would have had to have it shipped. If you are lucky you might be able to find local stores (some actually carry them) or health food stores, that carry these products. Then it may cost less. But I guess its the price we will have to pay.... to not be a danger to the environment... and to have peace of mind in knowing that we are not buying products that are being pumped into the stomaches and rubbed into the eyes of animals... Yeah, P&G ...... I used to get stickers that had gruesome graphics... it resembled the color of the TIDE colors..... saying stuff like "thousands of animals DIED for this product" ...... I would sneak these stickers onto the products whenever I went to the grocery store. I dont know if it dettered people... but it made me feel better, lol. I also used to take stickers that said "this package contains the decomposing corpse of a small, tortured bird"... and place it on packages of chicken in the freezer section. One time I stuck around, pretending to mind my own business..... and watched as a lady walked up to buy some chicken, but after seeing the sticker on the package she selected, she placed THAT package down, and picked up the package next to it, because it didnt have a sticker. LOL. Just goes to show how people think. Some would rather choose ignorance even when the facts are in their faces.
(shakes head slowly) ohhhhhh wow..... the way some peoples minds work never ceases to amaze me.... as to the P&G and animal tester companies...its practically impossible to find cruelty free and green products like that unless you order form the internet($$$) or live in a bigger city.....best thing to do is use reg. household things like vinegar.....altho with washing clothes and stuff....I'm stumped .....I still live at home, I don't pay for the stuff so I can't exactly demand more expensive stuff without paying myself, which I don't have the budget for at all
My grandmother used to work there before becoming an ultra liberal vegan, now on a daily basis her and I boycott that shit hole. They use cruel and inhumane things and they should be shut down, but they own so much crap, its near impossible. Wild Oates (if anyone has that near them) have great products that you dont have to feel bad about.
