I think you once again misunderstood me. I said that the circumstances a baby is born into could mean that he has an unfortunate life. This could mean he could be given up for adoption, abandoned somewhere and brought up by a stranger, or even kept by his parent/s and not looked after properly. Are you saying that a baby born into poverty due to the parents not wanting it is going to have a good life? If the baby is not wanted, then it is not in his best interests to live. He will be screwed up mentally for life, and probably end up a psychopath or worse!

I also think that here in Britain, abortion will never be outlawed. It would be taking away a human right to outlaw it, and whatever the law says abortions will still be carried out. Surely it is better to protect the health of the patient by doing it safely and legally, like I believe has already been mentioned.

We are going round in circles here, and I think we should just agree to disagree on this one, before I really get nasty!

How wonderfully non-judgmental. Your parents must be so proud that they've raised the perfect little republican asshole.

When you have a uterus and an unwanted fetus growing in it, come back and give us a little perspective.

Until then shut up and accept the fact that you will not win this one.

Please do NOT label me as republican.
I consider myself to be moderate, some people label me republican just b/c i'm pro-life. However, I'm pro-drug legalization and pro-immigration, my parents would never think i'm a "perfect republican" at all.
In the case that if i was a woman and i have a baby in my uterus, i would hold the life more precious than the one myself, even it would bring my own death. I'm not a selfish person and i would be pleased to sacrifice my life for some other innocent people if i can.

You know prior to Roe V. Wade, abortions were illegal in most states and carried hefty penalties for preforming them. I am sure you will find this amazing, it did not deter anyone from getting an abortion or carrying them out. I would also like to point out that the death sentance does not deter murders from killing. The threat of even 20 years in prison does not seem to stop thieves from stealing. The threat of a revoked drivers license or 6 months in jail does not deter drunks from driving. Oh and how many people here let the fact that Marijuana is illegal, stop them from smoking it ?

Back before Roe v. Wade, hardly a week went by that you didn't hear about some poor girl being found dead in her room after trying to preform an abortion on herself or finding the body of a girl dumped after a botched abortion by a sleazy backalley bastard. Is that the world you want to go back to ?

    Besides that,
there are approximatly 850,000 abortions a year, there are approximatly 550,000 children in foster care and there are approximately 150,000 adoptions each year. If Roe v Wade were overturned and a federal ban on abortion followed, what would we do with the children ? Anyone who has experience with the foster care system knows it is already overburdened and doubling the number in the system in a single year would be a bad idea. We could lower the standards for adoption, but even doubling the number of adoptions would not be enough and how low of standards are we willing to go ? Do we really want to bring back wide spread use of orphanages ?

First off, how can you assume that people EVER understand the "meaning" of life and death? There is always the option that there is no meaning. But besides that, you don't think its possible to live on this planet for 80 years and die without ever coming to know what the meaning of life is? If thats the case, wouldn't some shmo on his deathbed be able to fill everybody else in? Last I checked, generation after generation has been plagued by this unanswered question.

    Furthermore, following your logic......
If those babies never got to see "life" then how much of a "life" are they? And for arguments sake, if they were alive and "never know of death" then that sounds like the most spectacular, limitless mindset possible. Cruel is closer to being born into a world where death hangs over you every step of the way undermining everything.

I see you are from Yateley. I went to college in Farnborough which isn't far away. Well I assume it isn't being that to get to Farnborough from Aldershot I had to catch a bus that said Yateley on the front

My advice to you mate would be to get some life experience before you start deciding what you would do it something happened to you. You don't know what is around the corner, nor what this nasty little world is going to throw at us all next. So until you come to the time when you have to experience something for yourself, don't say you will handle it one way for sure. In reality, you will probably handle it completely differently!
