So, Im at work and i'am very ed off right now.I was told when I first came in that I had a apt with the HR woman, and she would tell me where i'd beable to pump, well unfortunately, in the stat of Nebraska there's no law saying that you work place has to provide you with a place. So from 2pm till 6pm i get to pump in the human resources storage room, and after 6pm I get to continue to pump in the womens restrom. Becouse im not able to go into any other rooms that are available in the human resources room because of comfidentialality, im not spelling correctly oh, well. Oh, and I asked the suporvisor if I could get the e-mails that he had sent to the human resources woman and he told me that he has to ask her if he can do that, well she told him not to give them to. This is why im ed, I was told that if I request for that I should get that information no matter what. I want to cry im tired of all of this , what do I do, do any of you live in Nebraska or have any relat6ives who brestfed, I want to do a petition and write to the congressman and get a law passed. i don't want to have to pump in the restroom, I don't want my son to be sick of some disease that came from this damn place, God knows what diseases are here, if you know what I mean. Im hurt, Im trying to do what is best for my son and it's going to becouse of this damn job, im starting to think that no one gives a . I want to ask them how they would like it if they ate in the bathroom or if they have babies how would they feel about pumping in a UNSANATARY PLACE, WHERE THERE ARE BACTIRAS EVERY WERHE IN THE RESTROOM. I said something can't remember what I had said but she said that she isn't going to argue or give her opinion, and this woman has kids of her own. Oh, last night when I asked the sup for the e-mails he asked if I was going to take this to court I told him if I need to yes, well this afternoon the hr lady talked to their atternys and they told her that our state don't have a law stating they have to provide a place for a woman to pump. Well, my food here at work is burnt well i brought a pot pie, (like it's good for me anyways) microwaved it, and it's burnt and im not hungry. Im so upset. BREASTFEEDING MA'MA'S HELP ME PLEASE, I KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY BREASTFEEDING MOMMY WORKING IM TIRED OF BEING PUSHED AROUND AND I WANT TO TAKE SOME ACTION.

((((Big fat huge hugs)))))) I'm so so sorry.

Why can't you pump in the storage room all the time. In my state, the law just says it doesn't have to be a bathroom, so I'd be fine with a storage room. Take a chair in there and pump away. What hours do you work?

I'll keep brainstorming ideas for you. You or hub might want to take a closer look into the laws, just to see for yourself. Hearsay is sketchy in my opinion.

As for your hubs question. I would milk room temp milk with freshly squeezed as long as the bottle hasn't been drank from. Like pump a couple OZs leave it sit at room temp, and a couple hours later pump a couple more and put in the first bottle, then store it cool if possible.

I pumped ALOT for the first nine mo and somehow I always got alot. I think the trick is to just nurse while your with him to keep your supply nice and high and stable. Your son doesn't really need solids right now. I'd skip those TOTALLY when you are with him and leave the solids for dad to feed him while you're gone.

Keep us posted, I'll be thinking of you guys (((hugs)))

Eating oatmeal every day helps build milk supply, but it has to be the old-fashioned kind that you have to cook.

You can also get Mother's Milk Tea from the health food store, that helps too.
Taking a few tablespoons of Brewer's Yeast (nutritional yeast) in some juice daily helps build milk supply and also helps with your nervous system.

Ok, I've searched and searched and I've got a friend who has also been searching and so far we can't find any Nebraska BF laws other then you are exempt from jury duty if the mom doesn't work outside the home :(

This means that there is no written law :(

If I were you, I'd contact LLL and have them help you out in your situation. with LLL behind you, you just may get a law passed about pumping in the workplace. I'm due to have a baby like ANY DAY but if you need a bit of help, let me know, I'd do what I can.

If you don;t have time to contact LLL, then have hub do it. I think it'd be in your best interest.

    (((hugs)))

when I was pumping, I was told that it was okay to mix breastmilk from different pumping sessions as long as the bottles were close to the same temperature. Like, you can mix refrigerated EBM (expressed breast milk) with other refrigerated EBM. And you can chill the fresh EBM and add to the top of a bottle of frozen EBM. But you should not mix warm with cold or frozen EBM.

letdown is simply when the milk comes out. When I was pumping, I had to get two letdowns. That means, once the milk stops, I had to keep pumping until it started back up again. I didn't get much more milk that way, but it did signal my body to make more and increased my supply better than anything else I ever tried!

LLL is la leche league, check out the website/link I posted earlier.

    LLL= Le Leche League

A WONDERFUL international group of breastfeeding advocates.

    Look into it: http://www.lalecheleague.org/

A let down is when all the milk kinda comes rushing out a few minutes after your nursing your babe. I didn't feel it much with my first, so if you don;t feel it, it's ok. It's like a rush or a surge kinda feeling you get in your breasts when you're boobs :let down" the milk for the babe.

Since your home all day today, I'd, personally, not feed babe any solids, or keep them to a bare minimum.

about the weight charts: there are different ones for bf babies and formula babies.
When Leane and I were having all our problems with bf, her doctor kept getting confused as to which chart to look at, as i was trying desperately to bf her, but she was never satisfied, so I'd have to give her forumla after days of screaming and no sleep.
Definately keep the formula outta the house. Since you've gone this long w/o out, that shouldn't be a problem anyhow.....
I agree with everyone else, hold off on the solids and nurse and nurse and nurse
LLL is also an AWSOME place. There were days when I would just cry and cry about how bad things were going, and I was able to call the leader of the group here and she talked to me for 2-3 hourse every time!
But yeah, I wouldn't even be too worried about the weight thing. Bf babies almost alwasy weight less than formula fed babies do. Those weight charts are just there to basically paranoy (sp?) parents so they'll go out and buy formula. I once read that they're made up by the formula companies.
I don' t want to totally knock formula here, it is a life saver for the mama's who just couldn't do it, or families who have different circumstances.... but it's become such a common thing that it's just sad.

jeez. kai got ear infections all the time, and i was so stupid i had no idea. she kept getting fevers and i'd try to keep her comfortable because the doctor said that fevers weren't really a big deal, especially when they're teething. it wasn't for a long time, after talking to one of my friends from here that he brought up that my daughter seemed to be sick a lot. i sorta thought to myself "well, yeah! WTF?!" took her to the doc and her ears were infected. jeez. sometimes i feel like such a fucking clueless idiot. poor little baby.
