Hi Ladies. For those of you that have used a Diva cup for a while, you have probably noticed that even though it is clean, it may be stained. (If you don't know waht divacup is, go to divacup.com. It is a menstrual product that has clear environmental and economic advantages)

I was looking on the internet and found info and tried it myself and it works great! Than you soybean81 on veganporn.com for her post.

Take 1 part water and 1 part hydrogen peroxide. Submerge diva cup completely in this solution over night. It will be sparkling clean in the morning. Rinse and air dry.

I also noticed that the little air holes in the top can get stained. What I do is clean mine in the shower. I place soapy water in it, cover it with my hand and squeeze and the water is forced out of the holes and that works pretty well. i am sure you could use a tiny sewing needle or osmething with cotton on the end to clean. It's not a big deal though. The solution takes care of pretty much everything. I would suggest doing the solution after you are finished with your period each month.

    HOPE THIS HELPS!

Personally, I don't care what color it is. It's not like I'm wearing it on my head ;)

Good idea about the hydrogen peroxide, I'll have to try that.

For the suction holes on top, I just squeeze the area around it while holding it under the faucet and any remaining blood-type matter just pops right out. I love my diva cup...

hahaha this is true. My guy calls it my " period shotglass". It even has a measurement on it so I guess his description isn't THAT far off. Even if sparkly I wouldn't use it to serve drinks. That would be a bit weird....

    not even as an earring?

All the cups I've seen are of a reddish-brown hue, I guess so that stains don't show. Never seen any white ones, a very impractical colour if you ask me!

Diva cups are silicone and a frosty clear white-ish colour.

Can I ask a question, not about cleaning? I have endometriosis, and can't wear tampons, or use a diaphram, because the pressure on my cervix is enough to set off terrible cramping. Is this cup, or the other one something that would cause cramping?

    Maggiesugar-
I really do not know enough about the condition and don't want to advise you to do something that would hurt you. You can email them at info@divacup.com I am sure they would be more helpful than I could be. Good luck!

It shouldn't. On the FAQ, it says that most women actually state that it helps relieve their cramps a bit.

And I can vouch for that. I have terrible periods, terrible pains, etc... and it doesn't exactly "Help" the cramps, but it does NOT irritate them or make it worse as tampons seemed to have done.
