I'm really into Phish these days and I want to get one of their live cd's. The only problem is there's about 20+ and so I wanted to know which is the best one?

well, all the LIVEphish releases are great.....i've never bought one, but friends have burned me them and they sound great......i don't know the numbers but i know the dates......this one is a must....if you like real up beat, tight and powerful Phish, also mixed with long crazy madness.....

11.27.98 Worscester, WA......it is amazing!!!! its one of the best shows! the "Chalkdust>Mirror in the Bathroom (English Beat)>Chalkdust" is so brilliant. one of the best chalkdusts. "Wipe Out!" is littered all through out this show, highlighting the ever entertaining personality of PHISH.....but the best part is the monster Mikes Groove.....the "Weekapaug" just won't quit, they are just feeling it so much this night......

6.24.94- Another great night, this is yet another monster Mikes Groove, with the most experimental and beautiful Simple, they do this harmony jam that is so perfect and well done.....they are having alot of fun this night with alot of segues to keep all those setlist kids guessing.....very exciting show, always good.....

7.16.94, Vermont (i think), its is amazing! this show has one of the wildest "antelopes".....it is a great show....the last of that tour, and they really wanted to say goodbye!

.....don't want to write anymore, those will do ya fine for a while, your really gonna wanna listen and listen and listen to those....they are addicting!!!!

i love me a good TWEEZER, and this is the oddest one i think i've heard....but then again 94 was a wacky year for TWEEZER....lots of big ones that had ver odd jams....but i love that shit.....i'm actually surprised [and delighted] that they would choose to put out such an experimental show...

10-31-94 - forget which number live series it is

Best Reba you'll ever hear, incredible versions of Harpua, David Bowie, Antelope, Rift and Slave - throw in The White Album for a second set and you have the single best night of Phish I ever witnessed out of the 70 or so shows I saw.

    Live phish 04 - Fukuoka, Japan 2000.
Check out the 2nd set, best jam ever. It starts with Twist at about 2 minutes 50 seconds, lasts about 40 mins in all. if I HAD to decide what my favourite single piece of music is in the world, this would probably be it. Absolutely perfect, inspired this whole way through, not a dull moment.... practically nothing at all I would want to change. Sure you get some pretty beautiful extraordinary moments in quite a few phish (and grateful dead) shows... it's what keeps us getting hold of new shows to listen to.... but how often is there a something like nice long (like 10 mins plus) straight jam that not for one moment is some old pentatonic wankery/rehashing of same old usual riffs or whatever....?? NOT OFTEN. This jam as soon as it's started becomes a unique 'track' of itself - it's not just a nice little interlude. I'm sure like me you want to hear jamming that actually tells a story... well here is the best of the best. Live phish 04 - The Fukuoka Jam. This is the one you want. (and don't worrybesides the 2nd set Fukuoka jam the whole of the damn show is simply smokin' - probably the best Back On the Train, Squirming Coil and Split Open and Melt I've ever heard).

sooo, now I had to start listening to halloween phish shows.....because of this thread....#13=white album, #14=the who cover show 10-31-95, #15=the Talking Heads cover show (10-31-96)....what's so great about these sets is the Phish songs are pretty good too. and 4 discs apiece....a pretty good start if you want to order some discs. just a lot of good music. (every time I type good it comes out god, wondering if the universe is telling me something or I'm just a bad typist :) (I get these strange thoughts listening to Phish, please be patient)

a live one does kick ass. i was just listening to the Stash, and I am finnally going to get on the horn and find all the shows these songs come from. whats funny about that album is it came out in 95, and they said it was recorded at the Cliffords Ball.....its not true. they said this because they didn't want to have to ask for permission from the venues they recorded the shows at...so they simply said Clifford's Ball, which didn't happen until the summer of 96.....
