Anyone who buys weed in small quanities (dime) knows that every dealer says that their stuff is really good. how can you tell if the weed is good?

all the dealers I know don't usually boast about there product no matter how chronic it is. And ever tried smoking it? then you'll know if its bunk or not.

well you can tell if its not bad as long as it has no seeds, little stem ( doesnt really matter on quality just you are paying for nonsmokable shit) and red hairs. If its good it should look light green with lots of white crystals and orange hairs purple buds is also a sign of good weed although it is rare and not always a sure sign. I'd ask for a sample if i were you like a nug or two thats what i always do and if its good i buy an eight or quarter.
    goodluck

youll start recognizing good weed as you smoke...also there is weed that looks good, but its not. kinda confusing

first thing i look is if it is crystally...and id say 90% of the time the level of crystal is a pretty good clue on how strong your weed is.

are you kidding me? it is extremely easy to pick out what's good and what's not. Even with the naked eye. Just put a bud under a bright light, and look. good bud will be a light green, sometimes frosty with trichomes....not so good stuff will be a darker green, often brownish, and not nearly so many trichomes visible. Also, the smell of good stuff is somewhat sweeter than bad bud, which can be a little bitter, or like chemicals. And good bud will break up nice, fluffing out from a somewhat small bud to a good 3 or 4 bowls....bad bud breaks up crappily, will be seedy and have lots of stems. once you learn how to determine good pot from bad pot, it makes buying a lot more enjoyable, cuz you dont get ripped off nearly as much, if ever.....

good weed has a distinctly pungent odor. very spicy. and good weed generally has ample trichome coverage (the little thc crystals on the bud), although not all crystals are created equally. still, if you're looking at a bud that's nearly white with crystals, has relatively few leaves, no seeds whatsoever, and smells like something off the spice rack at your local Co-op, then you know its going to be pretty damn good.

    note:

purple is NOT a sign of good weed. it is a sign of temperature change (drop) during the later flowering stage. purple, however, is cool to look at, although it doesn't get you higher.

red hairs are NOT a sign of good weed. they're part of the flower--every flower. all buds have "red" hairs. ...interestingly, the darker the hair, the later the harvest took place. white or light orange hairs are indicative of an early harvest. some people say that an early harvest is a more "cerebral" stone (like sativa) whereas darker hairs (late harvest) is indicative of a more stoney couch-lock stone (like indica). however, i cannot verify that this is or is not true.

I believe what you say is true. when the plant is harvested later, the trichomes start to fade, taking on a slight different chemical make up. One that ends up feeling like a couch-lock high, whereas if the trichomes are still fresh when the plant is harvested, the chemical isn't as aged, or dead. So, the high is more of an uppity high, or cerebral. There were two chemical names I remember reading about this, but, you know how chemical names are sooo memorable.......

You can't; unless you really know your shit, or are lucky enugh to buy through a big-leaguer or a grow-op, it's all guesswork.

Worth mentioning: purple buds are not always indicative of a purple strain; I've sen lots of buds that are purple in hue masquerading as purple hash/fantasy/crown etc, when in fact they have just been grown by an amateur, and turned a funny colour in the grow process...

Smell varies from strain to strain; not all of the best stuff smells evil.

And trichomes should be cloudy in colour, not clear. If they are clear, they have very little THC in them.
