    Here's a thought:

You know how a long time ago people used to get burried alive when they were misprounced dead because they didn't have the science they have now a days to figure out such things?

What if Jesus was one of those people. What if Jesus never died at the cross and was still alive when misinterepted as dead. Then his "resurection" would never have been real because he was never dead in the first place.

    What do you think?

He would have died shortly after being buried alive.

One (or more--can't remember) of the gospels also say he was stabbed with a spear in the midsection

There are ideas floating around about Jesus surviving the crucifixion and then going to India and dying there many years later.

Regarding being buried alive, the burial was in a tomb which was probably by no means airtight...a person would not quickly die of asphyxiation.

I don't have any reason to think that the gospel account is inaccurate.

    He better be dead!!

After all, he was supposed to die for our sins.

And if he ain't dead yet, there're a lot of sinners out here who would finish the job.

Yes but wasn't Jesus a natural healer? Why couldn't he have healed himself?

Yes so he wouldn't have died right away. The buried alive thing I was talking about was just an example of mistaken proclaim of death.

Well of course he's dead now. What I'm trying to imply that maybe Jesus was just a regular guy and not a half god at all.

Ummm, again, if you go by the Gospels, Jesus was crucified by the will of God, and all of the acts her performed during his ministry were through God.

Sooooo, yeah. What really gets to me is people who use the Gospels to propose and idea, then just forget the rest of them...

(also, this is not really the point and is borderline nit-picking, but mainstream Christian theology doesn't view Jesus as a "half god" but as fully human and fully divine)

Kind of like the Council of Nicea who chose a few gospels (assumed by many to be copies of the same text) and left out the dozens of other gospels that didn't fit in to their views.

How many of those say he wasn't dead?

Also, there are 3 of 4 synoptic Gospels. John contains much that the other 3 don't and vice versa.

Also, the earliest Mark manuscripts didn't originally include the final chapter dealing with the resurrection, it just ends when he dies.

EDIT: A little info on the Gospels... http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_ntb1.htm

And by the same reasoning.. The Vishnu Purana and it's descriptions of the
childhood deeds of krishna and rama.
    Cannot be taken as inaccurate.

That is a good link on the gospels that I often site... it does state that "most believe that the author of one gospel copied passages from another" and also goes into a few of the so called "lost" gospels. Here is another good link: http://www.gospels.net/

How many of those say he wasn't dead? Well you got me on that one... I was off point entirely. I guess all I was trying to say is that one way or another we all pick and choose what we accept and what we reject. In some ways we have to. There are always contradictions, there are always interpretations.
