My dad has gout, caused by the build up of too much uric acid in the joints. I just wondered if anyone had any advice of what he could take- anything natural, vitamins, supplements etc. that could reduce the amount of uric acid.
He's not much for doctors so has only been diagnosed but hasn't been given any medication yet.

Just wondered if anyone had any advice?
Also I heard that it can lead to kidney stones and kidney disease if left untreated, does anyone know if thats true?

    Thanks :)

Sorry to hear that, GreenBird. My beloved partner is also a sufferer and some days he goes through absolute agony, not able to leave the bedroom, etc.

My uncle found some treatment that really works. He only has to take one pill a day and he can forget he has gout. I must try to ask him what the medication is, because I'd like to try to get my partner on it.

I think your dad really should have a consultation, it's not going to get any better without help. There's some sort of injection you can have as well.

Good luck, hope it gets sorted out.

Hey thanks Becca. Fortunately my partner loves the taste of cherries, so it won't be like taking medicine!

The best thing I've tried is Goji Juice, it is from a Himalayan Berry. You can get it at http://fordhealth.freelife.com One ounce per day and his attacks should go away.

its a shame but most people who have this condition don't actually want to do anything to reduce the problem , try to get them to do something for themselves and you'll see what i mean.

sorry to be bleak but its true. either that drink more water , goolgle- gout and vitamin b for more answers. good luck

Too much meat. He should go vegetarian. Uric acid is only found in animal flesh, which accumulates very easily in the body, and eventually creates conditions like this.

Here is a free vegetarian starter kit you can order - http://goveg.com/order.asp

Feel free to share that with friends :)

And Yeah, kidney stones are definatley created by uric acid from what I know..it also has to do with eating too many sugar filled and starchy foods on top of the meat as a food combination..

When www.patricktimpone.com get's it site back up, download the Annie Jubb interviews and listen to those for more specific advice..I remember them specifically talking about this when that interview was up. She said something about quitting meat, doing a fruit and vegetable based diet and that it would relieve symptoms and pain within days

He shouldn't eat strawberries or shell fish. My Grandpa has gout and as long as he watches what he eats he doesn't have flare ups but like what was said before black cherry juicy works wonders.
