stole an idea from a friend yesterday, and ended up with this...(sorry the pic is so tiny)

this skirt used to be a massively huge mens' buttondown. i cut across the shoulders, cut out the sleeves, and ran seams up the sides. were i not as lazy as i am, i'd have made a waistband out of the leftover sleeves, but decided to just fold over the top and run a seam along it. it stays up with the help of a hook and eye at the top of the row of buttons up the front. definitely took me maybe a half hour to make, and i think it came out pretty nicely!

So cute with a border on the bottom and everything. Must have been a really huge shirt!

That's really cool. I love those long wrapover type skirts.

I wish I was good with needle and thread, I would make lots of my own clothes. Not that I haven't tried in the past, but somehow they never come out looking like my sketch or the idea in my head.

hey..i've grown up sewing, and it's only been fairly recently that i've been able to make stuff that i'd actually be willing to wear anywhere. don't give up trying...maybe just start with easy patterns.
