lol the sites that sell llegal magic shrooms that are the Amanita Pantherina mushrooms it says they cook them to turn the poison into a hallucinogen is it just me or does that not sound safe? i mean i know that psylocybin isnt anysafer but the poisons that they have to bake can kill you.
psilocin and psilocybin are entirely nontoxic, and are in fact among the safest drugs you can put into your body from a physical standpoint. psilocybian mushrooms are much safer than amanita muscaria or amanita pantherina. those that have actually used amanitas tend to regard it as more of a deliriant than a psychedelic, anyway, and most people do not enjoy the experience. and yes, there is some speculation that even the amanitas with thousands of years of known use can have some negative downsides, such as hepatoxicity. these "legal mushrooms" are shrouded in myths, ignorance, legend, misinformation, and simple lack of understanding. finding much accurate information about them is difficult to do. you'll hear many conflicting recommendations regarding preparation and safety. when in boyscouts i used to be told of a handy tip related to finding edible foods in the wild: when in doubt, do without. same goes for drugs, really. truth is these are probably safe in extreme moderation for certain people. but there is so much conflicting information, so much uncertainty, as to how dangerous they really are or aren't....and those that have gone ahead and taken them anyway aren't generally too impressed. many people get sick or sleepy or both at different points in the experience. when in doubt, do without. you don't really know if they're ok to be taking at all, so recreation should probably be the LAST reason to take them. its just better to do without. if you want to trip, i'd say stick to the tried and true nontoxic psychedelics such as LSD and psilocybian mushrooms. these are not without their own risks, but at least you're not going to be potentially poisoning your body....
no they don't. in fact, they don't call Amanita muscaria or Amanita pantherina the angel of death at all. they call Amanita verna "destroying angel" and Amanita virosa "death cap," but these are entirely different species with entirely different chemical makeups. these two poisonous amanitas have generally fatal effects, as there is no known antidote to their toxic components. Amanita muscaria, or the fly agaric, however, has one of the longest traditions of use among humanity of almost any drug, possibly rivaling such substances as opium and psilocybian mushrooms as far as longest history of use. countless thousands of people have used them, even if they are not a common or well liked as recreational drugs among most western cultures. probably the reason people think that fly agarics are poisonous is because of two reasons..... the first reason is the way it got it's common name, fly agaric. in olden days, people would collect and cut into peices fly agaric mushrooms, most likely along with some other amanitas, and let them sit in a dish of milk. the milk would attract flies, the flies would drink the milk, and the chemicals in the mushrooms would kill the flies. it is worth noting that a fly's body is much smaller than ours, and they are made to metabolize different substances than our bodies can handle. just because it may be lethal to them (in doses proportionately much larger than humans would take) does not imply that they're dangerous for humans any more than an animal safely consuming a particular wild mushroom indicates that it's safe for human consumption. the second reason is that the pharmacological effects of the fly agaric are rather unpleasant for most people. certainly the majority of white settlers "back in the day" would not have been pleased to have a delirious state, and may have attributed almost any drug effects that are unlike traditional stimulants, depressents, and narcotics (like coffee, tea, tobacco, alcohol, opium) to "poison" in the substance that was ingested. look at the history of use of datura, peyote, and other psychoactive substances among american indians. peyote was subject to one of the first anti-drug laws introduced to the new world, as far as i understand it. datura and similar plants received ominous names with words like "devil" in them. the common names of most plants are rather old, and while they do not all make sense to us today (look at the paw paw or jack-in-the-pulpit) they have their sources, and usually have some sort of reasoning behind the names. furthermore, the garish, bright colors (bright red with white dots) typical of the fly agaric may be generally considered by many people as a warning sign of poisons lurking within.....either in the past, or the present. the fact of the matter is that if properly prepared and properly dosed, a properly identified specimen of fly agaric will not do too much harm to a person. like i've said, thousands of humans have taken it regularly throughout history as a religious sacrament, even if in general most of the western (read: caucasian) world has shunned it's use as a drug or a sacrament, and regarded it instead as a poison. yes, relatives of these drugs are lethal, but that has little relevance. yes, they can kill flies...but that has little relevance. they are possibly hepatoxic (harmful to the liver) but even this, as far as i know, is up for debate. it has not been extensively scientifically studied. the fact is simply that its not WISE to take them, even though you most likely will survive the experience (there is more evidence to support the idea that they are nonlethal than that they are lethal, i've only heard rumors of death of small children who have consumed them, and no absolute confirmed reports...that doesnt mean there aren't any). -they may be bad for you -you most likely will not enjoy the experience much, and may likely experience strongly unpleasant physical side effects -few find it worthwhile enough to return to use it again, unless they have taken part in a religious tradition among their culture which reveres it as a sacrament....in this case they are not looking for a "psychedelic trip." this mushroom simply IS the sacrament. i.e. indigenous siberian shamanic tradition -they offer an entirely different experience from traditional psychedelics that are KNOWN to be ->physically<- safe among "normal" humans, such as psilocybian mushrooms, LSD, DMT, and mescaline. these are all great reasons to recommend not using the psychoactive, nonlethal amanitas such as A. muscaria and A. pantherina, particularly if you have access to the traditional serotonergic psychedelics i mentioned above. fear of death, however, is not really an issue so long as you're not using other drugs, in good shape, have a healthy body, and so on. it just simply isn't worth using, is all. still, i'm somewhat intrigued and would someday like to try it just to find out firsthand what the experience is like. this doesnt mean i think it's good to advise others to do ANYTHING other than stay away from them! interesting sidenote, the active components of the fly agaric go through the body without being really broken down, and is excreted and still perfectly usable in the urine. in years gone by, its been said that peoples who used these mushrooms as a sacrament valued them so greatly that a whole group of people would "trip" off of a single dose by successively drinking the urine of the prior user. especially in places such as siberia these mushrooms can be very rare, and in an age when they were THE sacrament, the only known drug, and scarce (they also competed with reindeer for the chance to eat them first), and in the days before modern medicine, the experience was valued so much that you'd think nothing of drinking another persons piss just to get what you wanted. now THAT is religious devotion!
I've tried them a few months ago and the effects are very different than psilocybin mushrooms. It is more of a deliriant then a psychedelic. My experience was pleasent and I enjoyed it but I DO NOT reccomend it as a legal substitue for shrooms because it is far from it. It is in its own mysterious class and from what I hear every experience can be different. (probably why there are no set effects I can tell you) If you do get them, be smart, respect the drug and learn from it. BTW, excellent post nesta I learned alot.
yea. ive done the muscaria though... its less psychedelic, it has its own effets, different then anything else. but just stick with the psylocibes, personally more enjoyable. there are lousy effects from amanitas.
hummm. i felt sick (stomach), my head felt weird... and theres this fuckin weird feeling on the penis.. its like if someone stabbed needles on it. its really weiiiird...
LOL. I got that when I took a piss at one point I was like WTF!! lol but it went away rather fast. My stomach was fine, it seems one toke of weed cures that no exaggeration. The other side effects I got were salvating, and some sweating.
amanita muscaria has muscimol, a GABA-binding agonist. it's not particularly toxic in moderate doses, and has an altogether different effect than psychedelic mushrooms, more of a dissociative stupor
I hate the dissociactive stupor, like when I drink too much, or someone slips me some special K. To me it the most uncomfortable I can be, I just dont feel like Im control. I like ps. cubenis and LSD because I am not in the stupor stage. Its like when I walk, I am not really walking because the world is moving under my feet.
Its a deleriant, thats a lot less safe then psychedelics. + the bodyeffects of this particulair shroom could include heavy vomiting and liver damage. If you boil or dry it though you kill a part of the poison, because it has two poisons one giving mental effects and one just being a poison. Still I don't advice deleriants..
My friend did them, said he baked them at 200F for 10mins and really tripped hardcore. I get really delerious from normal psilocybin mushrooms, people think im allergic, because I vomit almost everytime, unless I take tea.
you can't "kill the poison" by heating them; in fact (unlike psilocybin mushrooms), you can smoke them.
