for work i'm not allowed to have my TEENSY TINY little diamond stud in my nose, so i bought a clear glass ring today for when i'm working (i don't trust the hole to be ok for 7-8 hour shifts) will the frequent changes of my nose ring cause any issues for me (infection, irritation, etc)?
yeah but if its a fresh piercing you may have some problems, or atleast kick the healing times back quite a while
i have the same problem with work so i had to take my nose ring out and it closed up. i asked my piercer (he's really good) if it would be a problem to have it pierced on a friday and then put the clear retainer in on monday for work and he said it should be fine.
why do make people such a big deal out of those teeny tiny diamons???? I mean, pimples are bigger then those!!! I work in a school, and I wear dreads, hand have a huge blue opal stud in my nose, that shoots right in to your eye, and nobody even asked about it.
i don't know why it matters either... it's not even remotely tacky, becoming really pretty common, and most people have said mine's the tiniest nose ring they've ever seen (got the stud in ecuador, haven't seen any in the states as small as mine). i don't mind eyebrow or lip rings, but can see how someone might object to either of those i guess....but a teeny little nose ring? i just don't get it...
i've had the piercing since october, but it periodically gets infected for some reason. guess that's not unusual, though, since all the rest of the holes on my body did the same thing for a good couple of months afterwards. i'm still trying to get my cartilege piercing to heal for good on my ear, and it's been almost a year....
I very much doubt it will cause any problems. And give it a few months, and you will be able to trust it for 7-8 hours. I was like that for about the first 6 months I had my nose peirced but now I take it out for days, sometimes weeks at a time without worry.
You could get a retainer, they are like nose studs but clear. These can be used in fresh piercings and they're usually ok. However, changing frequently is going to irritate your nose. I try to change mine as little as possible. My friend has this clever little stud, its not made of steel, its pretty transparent, but she changes the ball on the outside whenever she's not at work. So she'll go to work with a clear ball on it and you can't see it, then on weekends she'll pop a jewel on it instead. This is what I mean http://www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/online_store/bioplast_nose_stud_crystal_clear_9065781.cfm The jewel is push fit so I think you could change it to a clear piece, you'd just need to find the right size (I'd assume 1mm). Anyway, I'm buying one of these today so if you want I can send you a message when I receieve it in a couple of days and let you know if the jewels can be removed and changed!
Ruby - COOL stud! I'm lucky enough to work at a place that doesn't care about peircings, but I think i'd like to get one of those anyway. Love.
ooh that is a cute little stud...please do send me a PM whenever you get yours and tell me how well it works out. i've currently got a clear post (it's actually made of glass) that i got at a local piercing place which works pretty well but changing it frequently isn't making the piercing terribly happy.
I very rarely change my nose stud, partly because I like the one I have, it's very small and discreet, so I can get away with it at work. In fact my regular colleague who I share a room with didn't even notice it until the subject of piercings came up in conversation! I don't like changing mine because I find it fiddly and awkward, especially now that I have grown my fingernails quite long. When I first had the piercing done (about eight years ago) I was keeping my nails short because my main hobby was rock climbing. Back then it was easier to change the stud over. I occasionally put a ring in, but I slide it in beside the stud because I don't want the bother of having to replace the stud. I've never had a problem with infection, but when I first had it done, I was working in a far less tolerant workplace and I said that removing it and replacing it each day would most likely cause it to become infected, so my employer had to agree to let me keep it. A little white lie, but it worked! Maybe you could use this strategy if you don't want to keep removing and replacing?
