I watched this movie last night, and was amazed. I felt very strange after seeing it, cuz it is pretty disturbing and nightmarish... There were a bunch of scenes that really stick in my head. The finale, of course, goes without saying for being very memorable and powerful, but certain parts like when the mother is dancing hypnotically in her red dress in front of the mirror continue popping up in my head. The soundtrack sounded familiar too...its annoying that the same orchestration is used for movie previews like the Lord of the Rings and Zathura, but nontheless it greatly added to the scenes. Anyone else love this movie?
Did you watch it on IFC last night? I caught some of it but it was towards the end soo I didn't watch it really, I want to see it from the beginning. I hope it is on again soon.
Hmm...I didnt even know it was on TV. But I'm sure some of the parts would be edited out, which does not make for a good movie experience.
That movie disturbes me to no end. I think the music fits better in that movie, than in any other one. It's just eerie.
Its been on a few times over here... in the last few weeks [digitital TV repeating itself endlessly]. I woke up to find it on last week actually.. i was a bit drunk ..i thought i was loseing my marbles. When it comes on again and i am sober..i may be able to comment on it better.. what i did watch was erm ''interesting''.
Nah it was on IFC, a non commercial move chanell. They show it all. Maybe I will catch again tonight or in the next few days cause I am sure it will be on several more times.
the version of the movie blockbuster carries is edited, the scene of jennifer connelly's character (cant remember what her names was) in the guy's apartment at the end is shown from a different camera angle so you cant tell exactly whats going on. it is still an amazingly intense movie, in the original or edited version. they all see the ideals of everyone else, and its their down fall, just like the quote from the book. darren aronofsky is a great director. pi, another movie of his, is possibly even MORE intense than requiem.
i adore this movie...it's so haunting yet amazing....it's beautifully unsettling. and yes, the soundtrack - especially 'summer overture' is so intense. Love it
Most drug movies I see (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Spun, etc.) make me want to do drugs. They play up the fun, interesting side of it. This movie made me never want to touch another drug. It was so depressing, yet realistic. I've known a few heroin addicts in my time. Side Note: This is the only NC-17 movie I've ever seen.
Great flick. I thought I remembered reading that some politician or other condemned this movie because it "glorified drug use". Which part, the double-dildo part or the gangrenous arm part? Seems to me that some politician also said that Trainspotting glorified drug use as well. Whatever.
yeah i really love that movie. u hate watching it but then like an hour later ur like..wow i wanna see that again. its pretty crazy the soundtrack is creepy but it fits really well. i started pi but i was too tired to finish it..now i kinda wish i had
It was a lot less than I expected and is leaps and bounds away from the greatness of Trainspotting but it's definetly worth a watch.
