Alternative Ways to Globalize

When we talk about globalization, we often start thinking about the evils of corporations. However, we can globalize the earth without making corporations eroding people's lives. My idea is a way of globalization that use international legal codes to prohibit participation of big businesses in the globalization process, preventing them from eroding indigeneous people, and allow small businesses and individuals to have more opportunities.

 

In a perfect world, yes your idea would be nice. But as things stand now where money buys influence, it will never happen. The moneyed elite would have to sacrafice something, and it's rare that those at the top of the feeding chain ever give an inch.

 

Its true that International laws would definately help the problems with globalization, but who makes those laws? The U.N.? The main problem would be getting world leaders to accept a world law. It would mean them giving up their own power and yielding it to an International power. How do we make sure that this new international entity doesn't have too much power?

The problem of globalization is really a smaller part of the larger problem that has existed since the begining of man, but hopefully won't exist until the end. the problem is that those who have power will fight to preserve it even if it produces negative effects for all of mankind.

Oh, btw, the U.S. is no longer part of the U.N.

I want to find the answer as much as all of you do I'm sure, so keep posting.
