I LOVE the Sex Pistols, they're some of the only punk I listen to. They sound so raw, so unhindered. While they may not have been as musicianal talented as other bands fo their genre, and perhaps some of their lyrics were't the best things in the world, they have a sound that defines defiance, wildness, and PUNK.

I liked the sex pistols cause they were manufactured to shock you. I'm not using the argument that they're just a boy band, cause that's untrue.

They kick ass!!! They have a totatly raw sound that's impossible to get if you try. When I listen to them (espically pretty vacant) I want to listen to the song again, and I can do that loads without getting tired of it.

And the had some really good lyricsdespite all the awful ones.

i even have problems with the ramones nowadays. however it is not their fault but people were definitely trying to emulate them and what they thought was punk by doing all the spiked hair bullshit and spikes on leather jackets...makes me sick it does.

    stiff little fingers are better

And on the ramones coming first, they were about before the pistols, but brit punk and american punk are distinctly different styles of music

Wow. This is a pretty stupid comment.

I think the fact that the Sex Pistols were one of the most influential bands in history pretty much disqualifies them from any sort of "boy band" status. Sure Malcolm McLauren was really just in it for the money, but that doesn't change the fact that the Sex Pistols were a revolutionary band.

And I don't see how anyone can criticize Rotten for trying to cash in by calling him a "sellout." Between the Sex Pistols and PiL the man's a fucking legend, so IMO he's allowed to try to make some money off of his success.

man i got sex pistols cd submision... its live, and the recording quality isnt too good but man its great. u dont hear music like that anymore... the new bands are too technical. the page before this someone said that people were trying to emulate ramones by spiking their haird and stuff... ramones didnt have spiked hair, and they didnt wear studs. they wore leather jackets, long black hair and torn jeans. punk is verry much as muhc a fashion statement as it is a musical style... it doesnt have to be, but it is. its not lame, its not sad, its what it is. so if anybody has a problem with studs, mohawks and stuff like that then you can fuck off. As long as having a mohawk still gets u weird looks in the streets, and as long as u can still get in peoples faces about it its worth doing.

I never really liked the Sex Pistols, to me they were the negative side of punk, more of an image then a music.

the sex pistols were one of the first punk bands around. this guy Malcolm Mclaren opened a store called Sex that sold rubber bondage suits and leather clothes and handmade t-shirts, really wild shit. The members all met there and he got them together to make a band. Theres a book called Englands Dreaming that explains the whole thing.

but yeah the sex pistols kick ass, one of my favorite bands
