i steped on a rusty nail an hour or so ago, bugger went up through my sandals, thank god i wasnt going barefoot. but do you think that i should get a tetanus shot? i did some reiki on my foot. what do you guys think?
What sixteen year old doesn't get a tetanus shot every 2 years anyway though. I was pretty much constantly getting bitten by dogs and stepping on nails and getting deep cuts from rusty metal.
You really should get one every ten years. That is how long they last. I recently had to get one because I chopped the tip of my finger off and it has been like 15 yrs since my last. You can probably go to your local health dept. and get one for free or low cost.
Every 7 years-- I just mashed the shit out of my left ring-finger, lost my fingernail and it got infected. The doctor gave me one-- my last was over 10 years ago. No good! If you are around horses, you should have one every 5 years-- horses are tetanus carriers. Thudkly has spoken. Harrummph!
Definately get the shot. Once active, tetanus is not treatable, and usually fatal. Your muscles spasm up to the point where you can't open your mouth. People can not only die of the toxins, but from dehydration and exhaustion. It isn't a big deal to get the shot. Please get it the sooner the better. (Horses are carriers of Gas Gangrene, too. Yuck.)
i got wounded yesterday ago and i probally wont be able to get the shot for about a couple of days, should it be fine, or should i really get it sooner?
Dang I hope you got that tetnus shot by now. You really need a booster every ten years. though last time I got a nail in my foot, they went ahead an gave me the shot because it had been more than 7 years, just to be safe.
