I prefer many of the non-standard brands over the more nationally known brands. Unfortunately, the brand names escape me. Sometimes when I've gone to a local restaurant chain (Ram's Head), I've ordered their non-alcoholic root beer on tap-good stuff!
wow someone else knows dog & suds definitely the best root beer i've ever had....as for what's best that you can get anywhere, anytime....barqs is pretty good.
IBC is alright, but not that good (IMO) never had dad's, but dog n suds is my all time favorite! barq's is my second favorite. rootbeer and gingerale are pretty much the two pops i'm willing to drink on occasion, although i'm partial to dr. pepper, or a cola with rum in it. still, i usually prefer plain soda water, with or without liquor added. i think its tasty and refreshing, and helps to get residual food flavors off of your palate (learned this when i worked at an ice cream shop....our soda water was the only thing to get rid of the filmy, gross, post-ice cream thing...) why is it that root beer and ginger ale are so much better than other sorts of pops?
dude, there's this little place across the river in woodriver, illinois. it's called charlie's and it's a little drive-in place that's been around since my mom was little. they have the best root beer. omg. i love it. but they're closed for the winter, so i can't have any until springtime. bleh.
Well, A&W is good, but I'm boycotting it since they removed the caffeine, so I drink A&W Cream Soda instead (it's still got the caffeine.)
Thomas Kemper Root Beer beats any hands down, but I don't know if it's purely a local favorite for those of us in Seattle.
