well in school we were studying the romantic period that took place during the late 1700's to the 1800's. and althought british lit bores me, reading about the romantic period made me think of the people and activists from the 60's, that people say were the originals and cant be duplicated. But in a way these people from the sixties were the more modern version of the romantic poets. my point is that all of the peopel who say that the ideals and so fourth from the sixties and part of the seventies can never be repeated should study history more, because the hippys most definatley repeated what the romantics wanted and added their own ingredients too.

There have always been those who live contrary to established society, the hippies were and are just another incarnation.

Society, especially in the arts, has always bounced back and forth between its Apollonian and Dionysian aspects. Nothing new, and not a new theory.
