When a bunch of coffee shop owners get together and decide to jack their prices in order to take advantage of silly americans who think the best pot in the world can only be found in amsterdam.
people go for the experince of Amsterdam and the experience of the cup, then just for the great weed. i know people that can get and grow some of the best weed id ever had and would still just at the opportunity to go to Amsterdam.
I never said I wouldn't go to amsterdam. I would not go to amsterdam during the cup, like I said, everything gets jacked up in price because they know they can. The cannabis cup is a gimmick.
If you want a cheap trip to Amsterdam, plan it early in the year (January to March) because prices tend to be lower then. I found Expedia to be the cheapest. You can save a lot of money if you budget beforehand. It may also be a good idea to change your dollars into euros before you go, because they will give you a bad offer when you get there. It also saved me lots of money to use the tram rather than taxis to get around the city (although it may take some practice to get used to the tram). If you want some tips on cool places to visit, check my thread "Best Places in Amsterdam." While you can get great pot in the U.S., Amsterdam is worth checking out at least once, if you have the means.
Cannabis Cup is mainly aimed at traders. Latest seeds, strains, growing technigues, etc, etc, etc. Saying that though, I personally don't like being dictated to as to what is good or what is bad when it comes to weed in A'dam. It's my choice what I like and dislike and I tend to avoid all the cannabis cup hype, but that's just me.
the Cup is still cool, even if it's a turist gimmick. i mean, there's nowhere else where you can walk down ONE street and smoke 30 different strains in 5 minutes, LEGALLY.
