http://www.dalitchild.com/index.php At first glance this website looks like just another website started for the betterment of the underpriveledged without any religious bias But on a closer look and on reading the fine print Created in 2002 in the United States, the Dalit Freedom Network's (DFN) mission is to partner with the All India Christian Council to empower Dalits in their quest for social freedom and human dignity (i.e converting people to christianity ) By the time these kids pass out of school their names will have changed from Karthikeyan Devraj to Paul what ever is his name. What this website does is lure donors to make donations without clearly revealing its a christian organisation. How much ever I may despise such people we hindus must be grateful to them for if not for the onslaught of christian missionaries there would be no urgency among hindus to reform hinduism(caste problems). The perrenial assault by christian organisations have put a sense of urgency among hindu organisations to do away with some shameful old age practies like caste system Thank you Clearly competition among religions is good for the final consumer for he gets greater value at a lower cost. However I feel christian organisations must be investigated by the anti-trust laws on grounds of unfair trade practices(most converts convert not for the love of Jesus but for the direct and indirect financial incentives they get ..........) I know that many christians also covert to hinduism but I am yet to come across anyone who converted to Hinduism because it would benefit him financially
Atleast they give these kids good food and some good education by which they can come out of the hole that the society around them has dug for them. Many poor kids like these work like slaves to keep their families running from a very young age. Who cares if some one is a christian or a hindu, it is better that he gets his education and improves his lifestyle, then if he wants to think about what that right path is for him, then he will... these are kids and they should be financially dependent and their financial needs should be fulfilled. Sigh, it is sad to actually read even from you - that hindus are "trying to mitigate the caste system" because of "competition", that is ridiculous. You make religions sound like businesses.
Ahhhh, "hindu" is another seperating concept... when someone asked Gandhi if he was a hindu, he replied that he was a "hindu, a muslim, a chistian, a buddhist..." He told people to stop it with all the devisions and religious fighting. He found problems with all the religions and wasn't afraid to learn from them all in a search for the truth.
It helps to have lots of religions to look for God in, especially since people are usually exposed to assholes (or at least stories of assholes) in the predominate religion of their region, which tends to sour some towards God. Luckily for me I know a few asshole atheists personally....
