Hi. How is everyone going to be celebrating Easter the Pagan holiday? Me and my family will be performing the traditional animal sacrifices and blood rituals in honor of the Babylonian Sun God. I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow celebrating our honorable traditions!
Why don't you post this in the Pagan forum? Or were just trying to get a rise out of Christians? You're not even Pagan you're agnostic. So, why don't you celebrate Easter at a Communist rally?
The purpose of this thread was to find out how Christians celebrate the Pagan holiday Easter. Please do not post in this thread unless you intend to stay on topic, any further off-topic posts will be reported to a moderator. Thank you for being a good Christian by making judgements on my character from my profile. Anyway, Christians celebrate Easter (or so I'm told) and I wanted to find out if there were any similarities in their rituals and traditions to the humble Babylonian origins that it rose from.
Well, it is a pagan holiday and you guys stole it and tried to make it yours, but some know the truth. The god you claim to love so much specifically prohibits the mentioning of any other gods names, yet you take the feast of one and try to rededicate it to him, like he needs a used feast. Then spill her name everywhere, he must be so sick of those who perpetrate this custom.
LOL Dude, are you trying to use the Jedi Mind trick on me young Skywalker? Let me ask you this. If you're an Agnostic who wants to know more about Pagan holidays...Why don't you ask the Pagans? How does this not make sense? WAH WAH Tell the moderator. You're a little thin skinned to not believe in God.
Why is it hard for you to grasp the purpose of this thread? I know all about the Pagan holiday Easter. If you will re-read my posts, you'll understand that I'm trying to find about about the supposed "Christian Easter". I was told that Pagans were viewed as heathens by traditional Christians, so I was curious as to why a Christian would celebrate it. If you don't celebrate Easter, then thank you for not posting in my thread. If you do, please enlighten me on how and why you celebrate a Pagan holiday.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter Would it be better if he said he celebrated Pâques (the French for Easter, derived from the Hebrew word for Passover)?
I'll answer. I don't celebrate "Easter the Pagan holiday" (Whatever that is). What will I be doing tomorrow? I'll be celebrating the Resurrection of my Lord and Savior, Jesus! But what else would you expect a Christian to do on Easter, and hence, what was the point of this thread if not to voice some sort of ojection or display contempt?
What stikes me odd is that the author actually distinguishes between a "Pagan Easter" and a "Christian Easter," then goes on to ask why Christians celebrate the Pagan Easter. Huh? If there's a "Christian Easter" why would Christians celebrate the Pagan one? If any Christian does do this, I wanna know why too!
Okay, for the third time now (I'll try to be as explicit as possible this time): the point of this thread is to find out how and why Christians choose to celebrate a Pagan holiday. It's a simple two-part question, yet so far no one has attempted to answer either aspects of my question. I didn't mean to imply that there are two different versions of Easter, as they are both celebrated on the same day, the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox, which arose from the Bablyonian sun religion. I'm having trouble seeing how that relates to the resurrection of Christ, which, once again, is why I started this thread in the first place.
Well thank you for clarifying, it’s much appreciated. However, the answer to your question should have been apparent: This Christian doesn’t celebrate a pagan holiday. He celebrates the resurrection of Christ. That is what the Christian Easter is all about. With that in mind, the question “Why do you celebrate a pagan holiday?” becomes a nonsensical one. Now if you wish to assert that the origin of the Easter I celebrate is rooted in some ancient Babylonian mystery cult, then that’s a different matter altogether, and one that, as of yet, lacks any sort of qualification. At any rate, until that case is made, it makes little sense to inquire about a pagan holiday in an effort to explain a non-pagan one.
Eh, the Christians took ALL our holidays so converting us would be easier. Easier than death, yeah I guess. Psh. Like it's a big secret that Christianity steals what it can, destroys what it can't, and lies to cover it up. But to answer the question, I celebrated Ostara by jumping over 9 fires (an old Persian custom) and welcoming the return of the sun. I celebrated Easter by spending the day at the tiller of a sweet sailboat on the Potomac river.
Well that is true. I mean, everybody knows that only Pagans are allowed to have a holiday in the spring. Come to think of it they invented summer, autum, and winter holidays as well. So yup, if your religion has a holiday in the spring, summer, autum, or winter then you stole it from the pagans. Why don't all you Christians go and get your own season to have holidays in, sheesh. And stop killing pagans, I know you're all still doing it some how.
