I have noticed in the last year that many shoes are not labled as far as materials go. They tell you where they were made and what size they are (In the US, Australia, UK, and China!) but not what's in them. This is very frustrating. My friend and I went into a store the other day and there were several pairs of shoes that were relly cute. All of them told me where they were made but not WHAT they were made from. I went shopping with a friend months ago looking for shoes for her (vegan) husband and the materials were nowhere to be found- not in the shoe, in the shoe, on the tongue, in the box, on a tag- nothing.

Many times you can tell if itis leatehr just by the smell (ick). There was a belt I almost bought because I was *sure* it was plasticy fake leather. It turned out to be real. It was completely smooth, bright pink, didn't smell like leather, I couldn't see a "grain" to it or anything. (I do not buy anything w/o looking at the tag first so luckily I didn't buy it).

I know there are many great vegetarian show brands, especially online, but fitting is hard when the shoe is not there. I don't really buy clothes without a fitting and shoes are the worst at this for me.

Are there any laws requiring labling?

Customers keep the business....in business. They have the right to know where their products come from and what they are made out of (this includes food. I am SO sick of that "natural flavours" bullshit)

Totally agree with you, can imagine how frustrating it'd be.
Must say though I have never seen a pair of shoes without that kind of labeling (usually on the sole or tongue). I'm British, if that makes a diffrence.

Yeah I looked there, too, and many (especially sneakers) don't have it. I think this should be illigal honestly.

i agree. being vegan i find shoes one of the hardest things to shop for. its easy to find vegan shoes online but honestly the ones i've seen are not my personal tatste and my feet are not always the same size when it comes to shoes so i cant just order somthing online and then hope that it fits.

i'd say write some letters to the companies, or form a petition.

if you decide to order online, try nosweatapparel.com
