i know pigs go into aim chats to look for potential sex offenders, so maybe they are using the same technique here? i am not paranoid i just want to know? would they even bother to fuck around here.. arresting people who could be dealing and growing and shit... can your isp report you for writing all this shit down? can you deny you ever used marijuana when there is written proof that you have? do they hang around on cell phone lines ready to bust a dealer when he strikes up a deal with clientelle? the fuck am i still writing for

Its written proof not actual proof. In order to even enter your house etc they would need a search warrant. You writing on a forum isnt plasubile evidence. You could just be saying "yeah i grow alot" to just be cool. They dont have proof. In order to get your IP they would have to get a warrant for hip forums to access their servers to get the information. There is alot to it. No police are going to spend that much time and effort to crack down on a couple small time growers or smokers. Of course if someone posted a warehouse of marijuana pictures. There might be somthing there. I dont think its legal for an ISP to report you, or is it? I dont think they would though. Just like how RIAA wanted them to give logs of fiels being transfered, they didnt want to. RIAA got papers that said they had to though. The RIAA was far more serious than this is too. You might say no but the fact that you can get fined 100,000 dollars per song makes it a bigger deal. Atleast in my eyes.

They can find out. I'm sure at least one cop has come on here. You isp can do anything they want with your ip adress, you signed for it when you got the service. Alot of them won't though, because it just is'nt very nice. They would normally have to ask skip, but they can get a warrent. Some forums like The Hive have serous problems, but then again, every thing is serious there. On the otherhand, there are tons of marijuana forums, and they don't seem to get shit at all.

i would never bet on anything anyone says in a public place
not being used as a basis for suspicion and subsiquent
arrest. and anything you say on the internet, like anything you say in the clear on an unencrypted phone line
or communication radio like ham or cb or cell phone or any
of that, even industrial intercommunication bands, is defacto a public place.

so i can't immagine why anyone would immagine their not
being a need for caution here, just like anyplace else.

every word anyone says on the internet anywhere at any time
is defacto a matter of public record, whether it is admissable
under rules of evidence or not.

i really think that should be kind of obvious
if people would think about things a little bit
of course it IS quite common in western society
for people to seem to have some kind of aversion
to doing so. i'm not saying people are dumb.
i'm just saying a lot of people, appearently a majority
have somehow convinced themselves not to connect the dots
or that by not doing so natural causality will somehow
    magicly go away.

it's not so much individual stupidity but rather the
ambient dominant culture and its assumed values

    =^^=

In case you haven't heard - the police in the US no longer need a search warrant under the Patriot Act. Plausible evidence is no longer necessary in the USA. I'm sure ISP's are mandated under the act as well to report any concerns. If the Patriot Act allows government access to your public library records - it surely encompasses forums as well.
