I had a friend who was paranoid... eventually, and to our complete shock he attempted to take his own life. He was taken to the doc, and they found out that his paranoia was from a chemical imbalance in the brain. Not saying all paranoid people have chemical imbalances, but its worth checking out. Sure, someone might be out to get you... but it's not likely. Especially if you're a typical American citizen, seriously... why the f*ck would anyone really want you - you?
Everyone is paranoid at one point or another. Its just like having a phobia. They get paranoid of say, the closet door being opened, its just a phobia. A normal everyday thing people go through. So maybe everyone should see a doctor? If this was true whoever owned zoloft would become the richest person in the world because everyone would walk out with a zoloft perscription. Well anymore almost everyone does walk out of the doctors office with a perscription of some sort of anti depressent. I dont think most people who are overly paranoid are worried about someone specifily planning out to get them but just paranoid in general of someone "getting" them. Most murders etc arent pre planned. They are random hits. Terroristic attacks make people in the USA overly paranoid too. Just like I was reading on one of these posts about someone on a train that sat beside a very nervous man being suspicious with a bag. You cant say you wouldnt get paranoid. Most people would. Whoever wouldnt is simply fearless. I wonder how paranoid people are in the middle east. Terroristic attacks are a daily problem and gunfire isnt a rare noise. Maybe they are so use to it that they dont even have a paranoia(sp) for it?
as they used to say..."just because you're paranoid don't mean they ain't after you!". Everybody might get a little paranoid, and rightly so if they did a little research on the PATRIOT ACT and what it means for us home-grown americans. (www.michaelmoore.com)
over-opinionated people who insult a charactaristic of the main demographic of the place that they are at need to shut their mouths.
if a person justifies their oppinion they have every right to voice it. anyway, i think phobias are pretty silly. the normal ones like of heights and all that are ok, but not if its a safe thing. its also understanable if youve had trauma on the issue, like fell, or got bitten by spider. but really, if your on a harness, you aint gonna die, and if the spider isnt poisonous, it aint gonna hurt you. being paranoid of other poeple id think is perfectly acceptable in america, everyone seems to kill eachother over there
The PATRIOT act worries me a great deal and I don't even live in America! Although, the way the Australian government has been acting for the last few years... Voted on early in the morning when no one can be bothered reading it thoroughly and given a catchy 'feel-good-about-america' acronym...the PATRIOT act is more than enough reason for any sane person to be a little paranoid. Or in the very least slightly concerned. As far as paranoia being a chemical imbalance in the brain goes, just like depression can be a chemical imbalance or an emotional problem, paranoia probably can be aswell.
Well, let's put it this way...of course you think that another person's phobia is silly, because you don't know their mind set and how the fear affects their daily life. You don't know what they're thinking about and how the phobia came about. You should never just say a phobia is "silly", because in reality, you don't know the story behind it.
SOME paranoia is okay, perhaps even a good thing. Americans are rightly concerned about the PATRIOT Act and the lack of WMDs in Iraq. MOST paranoia, however, is irrational. A quick look at some of the other threads on this board should confirm just how ridiculous (and harmful) paranoia can be (such as the one that claims freemasons associate with a 2,000-year-old-man and a race of reptile-men, or the one that claims the American government caused the 9.0 earthquake).
but the freemasosn DO associate with a 2000-year old man and were-gators. christ, doesnt anyone read weekly world news anymore?
I must say, not all doctor's know what they're doing. Some doctor's hand out perscriptions like they're candy. They don't even run accurate tests or anything to see if you're actually sick. They only confirm what you think without actually finding it out. I know, my doctor has handed me some anti-depressants and other things, no tests, no questions, no nothing. Truthfully, I felt that I needed them. But it still would have been reassuring if something else was done about it. Anyway, I stopped taking them on my own and I am thinking of other ways to deal with my problems. There is, however, a such thing called positive thinking. There is meditation, and yoga. And keeping your mind busy. I have been able to deal with problems much easier on my own. I don't know what it is I actually have but I know for one thing, I have paranoia and bi-polar. I just choose not to take my medication for it. I can deal with it in a different way. Peace and love Tiff Lennon
