i admit, as poor as we were when i grew up... we always were in a single family home and that is so nice... the past ten years, i always have to be connected to at least six people... cant even afford a half house... man i really want a disconnected house. here its good... not like some places i lived where i could hear whole conversations and an old lady called the cops on us because we were "shutting our kitchen cabinet door's too loud" get real! but still here, i know when people flush the toilet, shower, etc... i wanna be isolated enough by neighbors that they dont know when i piss and vice versa! christ almighty
I've been living in a detached for a few years now and there's no going back. I sometimes go round to my mate's house and there are footsteps above us and music from below and it makes me feel ill! I'm the sort of person who likes to run round the house singing and swearing loudly in silly voices, so this detached house is essential!
you just need thicker walls or to live in teh basement, where you can hear them walking around but they can't hear much of what you do The last apartment we were in, you could hear everyone if your door was open, but as soon as you closed it it was pretty soundproof. Well, aside from new floors being installed above us at 7am
Shutting the kitchen cabinet doors too loud? Calling the cops for that? Where I live, you have to wait so long to make a cop come that the cops would laugh at you for doing that.
^it really happened. i admit it was after we played loud music once before and got them called for that but they actually came saying we were "slamming our kitchen cabinets"... we went out then and got bumpers for them. how redick.
I've always been fortunate in the fact that I've lived in houses, well, except for when my hubby and I first moved in together. We lived in a townhouse for about 6 months but then moved into a house. Anyway, our neighbors never gave us any hassle. Actually, they couldn't. They had three young children who made quite a bit of noise naturally.
When you say 'house' hippy presumably you mean a detached house? Don't forget the vast majority of houses are terraces or semis (here in the UK at least).
you just have to live in a place with lots of insulation and on an end unit on the top floor. I lived in an apartment until I was ten and then in a condo when I was 21 and both were on a top floor end unit and I never heard a thing unless it was excessively loud.
