I think cooking shows are pretty equal actually.

Yes, I concede that. I've seen 3 or 4 though, and they were all male chefs. :)

I think porn starts to become degrading when we let it dictate how women are "supposed" to act, dress, etc...otherwise I don't really care what grown people do for a *legal* living.

For example....the "ew, gross, she has pubes" comments around here mostly come from the 13 year olds....who obviously don't have a lot of *ahem* "hands on" experience with real women....just what they see in Daddy's porn stash....

Women who are pressured into anal sex....what the hell for? Sorry, I HAVE a hole for that...the other one is for pooping....

As a friend of mine says, anal sex is for men with small willies, because the hole is tighter and they actually feel like they are going somewhere.

    *waits for the flames*

(No, that's not my view of anal sex, but it still makes me laugh!)

That's not a source, taht's you saying that. Links are good.

    There's gay porn too.

Also, stop bringing up my age. When nobody has a valid point or support they just tell me either a. I'm a sexist, b. I'm too young to understand, or c. I'm stalking them. Try using real arguements to make a point.

I think whart she is saying (and what is very true) is that no one thinks exactly the same as they did when they were teenager as they do as an adult. You may get married and have a daughter someday and may think your daughter would be degrading herself if she were to go into the porn industry. Our perspective is changed through our life experience.

Other than that, a 16 year old boy isn't going to do very well coming over to a Woman's Issue forum to tell us porn isn't degrading.

Oh yea, and females on cooking shows aren't doing it so men can jack off to her naked body while she moans all over the screen in a position that no woman would find pleasurable in the first place. It's apples to oranges, bro.

my only real problem with porn is that it sets up unrealistic expectations. Yes, for both genders, but I think moreso for women. We're supposed to orgasm every ten seconds from jackhammering intercourse (no clitoral stimulation mind), love anal sex with no apparent preparation for it (slowly stretching etc), never get dry, gag while performing oral, deepthroat, etc..

it's unrealistic. I mean, I enjoy sex, a lot, but... a lot of things that porn shows very very regularly are not things that most women enjoy doing, at least not in the way shown in porn

I don't mind porn. I watch it on occassion. Aslong as it involves consensual adults, I don't see the problem. People are turned on by watching other people have sex.

I think the rules for any movie also apply to porn. You have to realize that it's scripted and edited just like any other movie. The only thing real is the act of coitus itself.

What porn have you been whatching, my issue with porn is that they DON'T show the women orgasming, at least none I've seen. The actresses will moan and groan the whole time but never once will it reach a cresendo. It's as if the men get all the fun to themselves, it's that unrealistic expectation that women are not expected to climax that I find degrading.

That's not true. I've seen or heard of porns that women orgasming is a major part of the porn itself.

basically porn objectifies what many women (and men) are raised to believe is something special and meaningful. Now don't get me wrong, that is not always the case, and isn't as much nowadays. Porn cheapens sex, it gives many men (and some women!) false expectations of what it should be like, many women feel that since they don't look like this very thin, large breasted hairless women in magazines that they are not good enough. The porn industry is a sick one. They have every right to exist, but in my personal opinion, the people that monetarily support it are sad and pathetic. Im sorry if you arent' creative enough to visualize a beautiful male or female, or your to ugly to get laid, but don't try to justify your weird desire to see women get ass rammed by a donkey.

What the hell are you even talking about? I haven't said anything more than the above quote which went along with someone saying that they didn't know of any porns that had women orgasming.

Why don't you stop assuming shit? I didn't even comment on whether or not porn is degrading. I think you just like to fucking argue. What are you, six?

I wonder if gay/tg men get their pubes in a knot over objectification in gay or tranny porn?

There's about a thousand things I could say right about now. I worked in a porn store for a while so I've got a different perspective than most females. Since I've already been deemed sad and pathetic, perhaps I'll save my words for less deaf ears and just leave it at this : You would be surprized at the amount of females that rent porn.

I personally don't like porn, but that's just me. I don't find nudity offending, nudity can be beautiful and artistic, but porn is different, and it's not my thing, and it disgusts me.

    BUT

    That's not the argument here,

So, I'll get to my point:

As much as I don't like porn, I don't think anyone should blame porn for things ANYMORE THAN I don't think people should blame the Columbine shooting on Marilyn Manson or Eminem's music.

The media is evil, I will agree with that... but, the media DOES have it's limits and it only goes so far.

Maybe certain things may influence a person further, to make a bad decision [this is re: the discussion about porn relating to rape] but I can not allow myself to believe that porn, and only porn bears breeding ground for perverts and rapists, and I don't think it should be singled out the way some people do.

The fact that it could influence someone in the first place to do something like that, to me says they must have already had a part of that locked inside them long before.

Anyway, any man [or woman] who is influenced enough by porn to develop a dangerous attitude about sex, or the opposite sex [or same, if youre not hetero] isn't someone I want to be close to anyways, then.

    You can't censor everything.

If you want to censor porn, then you have to censor the music, and movies, and everything else, and to me that's just not right.

The question of it's degrading, to me, is just too much of a personal thing. To single out whether it's degrading to women, seems far too general for me. Like I said, I myself don't like porn, and what it stands for.... but I also don't believe that it's always as bad as sometimes people think.

I don't understand porn, either, but that's also besides the point.

I just want to leave it at the fact that something like porn as a whole is far to general of a topic to debate or control. Some people may see artistic nudity as porn [depending on what your moral standards are and what not], and others only consider really hardcore XXX things porn.

That would be like saying "is rock and roll bad for kids, and should it be censored?"

Well that's hard to say when you don't know which rock and roll you're talking about, and what not.

It's also up to the guardians of children to keep their kids safe from anything that could possibly influence their children negatively while their minds are still maturing....and it's up to adult individuals to make mature, healthy decisions for themselves.

And remember, sex is in our nature.... So it's hard to say that porn IS degrading. Offensive maybe, degrading.... difficult to determine.

    ok done rambling now.

    hmm, been thinking......

Does porn degrade people? I guess it depends on your personal attitude to sex and sexuality.....

Do individuals occasionally blur fantasy on the screen and reality? Yes, sad but true.... especially the young and socially inept who's experience of reality is fairly limited.

Would removing porn from society improve the situation? Not at all. Africa, where fewer people have access to any kind of media exposure, including recreational media we all take for granted, has the largest Aids epidemic, the most appalling sex crimes history, unregulated prostitution etc etc than any other continent on the planet.

Censorship isn't the key....... education/information is.

I thinks it is a shame how those poor myn are paid to have sex on camera. It is really unfair to them to use their penis to pleasure for money. Those poor myn are degraded to being a piece of meat just to stick in holes of all kinds. What kind of world do we live in where myn are just objects of desire with no real care for their feelings. It is not their fault that they have such large pensis and cant make money any other way to pay their way through college. Myn deserve better.

    Sound retarded?

eh, the ones I've seen do have the moaning and groaning, which does reach a climax but it seems awfully fake to me. Not to say that no woman has ever orgasmed on a porn set, but, it seems to set up this thing that we're supposed to love jackhammering type penetration and orgasm from that alone, or at least writhe in pleasure from it.

I'm still of the opinion that it sets up false expectations - for both men and women
