E85 and flex fuel are the a large part the answer hear go yellow live green. many of the newer SUV's made by GMC and one other company i can't remember are hybrid or run purely on the new earth friendly fuel. finally a better cleaner fuel. i think this will help since everyone in the world is so different and like so many different things (which keeps the world interesting) and not everyone will want to get rid of the things that they like even at the cost of the earth(which is sad).

I have an answer. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada USA.
You may know we have lots of Limo's here. The dumbest one I've ever seen,
are the SuperStretch Hummers. Disgusting Gas pigs if ya ask me.

most cars are rediculous, but the most rediculous thing is to make transportation primarily dependent on them, especialy in urbanized areas or along heavily utilized corridors.

the most NONrediculous rubber tyre on pavement, other then public transit, vehicules i know of were the mid 60s datsun pickup, vw bugs and bussess, and the 47-53 gm/chevy pickups with that 6 cyl ohc 235.

datsun/nissan made a nice little reasonably fuel efficient 4x4 called the petrol in the mid to late 70s too.

but the myth of most americans living in places too sparcely populated to support or justify adiquite public transit has, at today's population levels, become totaly laughable rediculous, or perhapse i should say sadly tragicly insane.

sure there ARE still vast areas of relatively low population density, but the overwhelming majority of people no longer live in them.

I'm sick of seeing huge ass SUVs and trucks that guzzle gasoline driving around here. Half the the people here that own them, don't need all that! I mean if you live way out on a farm, but not in the suburbs! My parents have a blazer that needs gas every few days! What's the point?

This is the biggest excercise of futility I've ever heard, because it still isn't conservation. You're burning gas for no purpose.

I think you'll find that its the old cars that produce the most emissions. New cars are very clean, even the big ones. The only problem with the big cars is the amount of gas they use.

All I can say is I agree.

I have a car. Sometimes I need it....my car is actually REALLY good on gas though, because I just have a regular 4-cylinder...not one of those huge roaring engines that they seem to want to put in everything lately. I can get almost a full tank of gas for only 12 dollars, and it lasts me forever. I try not to drive my car unless I have to, and if it broke, I wouldn't buy a new one. I'd possibly repair it, if needed.... but I'm really learning about other means of transportation right now [for when walking and biking ISNT realistic]

Anyway, I would never buy a new car, unless it were a hybrid, or other means of "fuel efficient" there are actually like, kits for car buffs to build vegetable oil fueled cars now, which are road legal...and if I can find a car buff I'd totally have it done!

I do own my own car, but 90% of the time I walk or bike around... New cars that come out nowadays SUCK... there really aren't any good economical and efficiant cars... or anything for that matter.

    Nothing economical?

    Chevy Cobalt, 25, 34

    Toyota Camry 24, 33

    Ford Focus, 36, 34

    Honda Insight, 46, 51

    Yea, those aren't efficient.

I have had it with gas prices......I went to look at hybrids.......MY GOSH THEY ARE EXPENSIVE! Yep, they are gonna get our money one way or another, either the oil producers will get it at the pump or the car manufacturers will get it at the lot. I think they secretly have each others' hands in their pockets.

It's a trade-off, are you willing to pay more upfront to save in the long run.

I find them disgusting. I was never concerned about anything other than the obviously over consuming likes of hummers and such but on nova the other week there was a show about small-particle filtering ans how it's masking most of the greenhouse affect and we are in so much more trouble than we know. I am trading my sports car in for a 4 cylinder or a biodiesel after graduation next month. I can't go on over consuming like this. My mom drives a biodiesel golf and loves it. I thought she was silly at the time because it was insanley expensive for what kind of car it is but now after seeing proof of her philosiphies of how truley fucked our planet is I understand and admire her reasoning and am disgusted with my own ways.

If you're worried about greenhouse grass, than a biodiesel won't help that.
