Could it be that homosexuality is nature's way of population control. One characteristic of prolifiration of a species is growing to a size that is accomodated by the environment. case in point a fish tank. the larger the tank the larger the fish. but if the fish were able to expand their environment??
It's obviously not a method that's working then, given the exponential growth of global population. Also, many homosexuals do have children, through artificial insemination etc.
::nods:: but still many adopt children...and I think that's great....they get a child and to raise a child...and a, perhaps lost, child gets the love and attention he/she deserves. Love is love no matter whom it comes from.
first i dont think there is really any evidence that there IS overpopulation. THere are very densely populated cities, but there is still plenty of room in the midwest.... bi- and homosexuality occursin many animals other than humans. animals that dont have overpopulation in their habitats. this is an interesting article, there is something about how female birds will mate and in effect ascend in the social hierarchy, and by having an ally (the other female) can secure more resources for when they do mate heterosexually, actually making reproduction more successful. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/07/0722_040722_gayanimal.html
Sure there's room, but we need more than that. We need tons of land to grow food, and a lot of land in unarable. The increasing population (and industrialization) of humanity is causing global warming to the point that this is, by all scientific estimates, the last generation that will ever see coral reefs and reef ecosystems. However, I don't think homosexuality is related at all to overpopulation. The only rule of nature governing population is food. I think.
you arent born gay, just like you arent born straight.you wont find a boy baby who sees the nurse and says Damn! shes hot! once hormones kick in with puberty, that starts your sexual drive, but your sexuality is determined through your experiances, enviornment, and how you were raised. if society was majority gay and was not very accepting of straight people, there would be way more gay people than straight. people are not born with a sexuality
