I was watching this video at http://current.tv/video/?id=9462 about this real life game called street wars and this is so awesome! I singed up for when it comes around my town. their web site is streetwars.net. check it out!
yeah i seen that on the current channel its pretty badass. i guess its the new way of doing UFC since thats gone a little soft now .
Well, little soft. That no elbows and no head butting is to keep the Thai's and Burmese styles from raping the gracie family. Don't get me wrong, graplings a great game if you get on your back, but idealy in a fight, that's not going to happen, and head butting and elbows can close the gap grapplers work in. Pride is much better. Still no elbows to the face though. Theres no better way to stop a wrestler or jui jitsu guy then elbowing him in the face after he drives. Works wonders on boxers too, but the knees perfect on boxers to work in the clench. Still UFC is much better then boxing. I don't want to see two grown men hug each other after they've gotten too tired to fight 6 rounds in. Are you sure you and braindead are talking about the same thing?
i just realized i was thinking about a different thing. the street wars thing that he is talkign about is like a hide and seek type thing that takes place over the course of weeks. and they use the whole city and have to strategically plan their lives around this game. i think i was thinkin about bum fights or something.
Bum fights usually aren't very professional though. Too much bitting. I don't like that real streetfighting on tape stuff. 90% of them are just amateur street urchins throwing haymakers. No respect for the opponent or anything either, seems a little low brow. I'd way rather see Vanderlei Silva have to take it easy on the elbows then some thug in a street fight over whos baby some chick is having.
Eh, I was a welterweight when I was still boxing. I'd rather watch an active welterweight fight with no KO's then most heavyweight fights. Most heavyweights just get tired too early if there isn't a KO. You got Klitschko and his brother who are pretty active heavyweights and score lots of KO's, their the first really great fighters in Boxing since Tyson went *really* crazy then turned soft. Holyfield was good, but he never could have beat Tyson in his prime. By '96 Tyson had lost his edge.
I don't think there are many boxers that really could've beat tyson in his prime. I'm just thankful that Lennox Lewis is retired. I hated his style. I always have considered him a cowardly fighter. Especially when going against Tyson. He said he wanted to go toe to toe with Tyson. After two rounds of getting his bell rung repeatedly, he played it safe and took the fullest advantage of his reach advantage over Tyson. While I realize that a winning strategy is all that matters, I still think it is against the nature of boxing. This gives me an idea for a thread.
