So I know how to weave hemp, add beads using the basic regular flat and spiral way and Its way awesome, I cant wait to start making my own stuff.

However, I want to be able to put it on and off without lots of trouble of untying it and getting frayed ends, therefore we arrive at my question [IMG]

How do I make the loop at the beginning so that I can put a bead or something on the end and just have it fasten like that?

I always start my hemp jewelry out by making the loop first...just fold the strands of hemp over and tie a secure knot...the extra ends of the hemp that are left from the knot can be incorporated into the beginning of the necklace...I always just tuck them under and use them as part of the strand that stays in the middle of the two strands that form the actual necklace itself. I hope this makes sense...its very hard for me to explain in words...it would be so easy to show, but its really hard to explain without demonstrating. If this doesnt make sense, just look up how to make a hemp necklace on the internet and you should find some directions...good luck!

    yep me too :D

I make a loop at the start and then put a bead at the end. It's the easiest and cleanest-looking way to do it, I find. Clasps and hemp jewelry don't mix if you ask me..

Girl its so easy ur makin it hard LOL All you have to do take your hemp lets say ur making a necklace. I say roll out about a 4 feet of hemp, cut it now do another 2 ft. of hem and fold them in half. So that one is longer than the other(obviously). Then just go and make a knot at the very beginning of your hemp necklace. Start braiding like usual and add your beads and when you get to the very end of the length that you want your necklace to be tie a knot at the end. I hope this makes more sense to you. I have some really cool pics and stuff of the things I have made if you want to check out my site too:) I do a lot of hemp necklaces and things. Your best bet is to work with differnt kinds of hemp. So you can make different thicknesses. Like the thicker the hemp the more manly the necklace will turn out, but thats just my opinion. I usually only do the normal 2 strands of hemp and fold them in half deal. But you can always do more than that depends on how thick you want your necklace to be too. Good luck. Tell us all how it comes out. Peace

i don't really get what you meant by fold it in half, but i've been doing it with just two strands in the middle, and two way longer ones on the outside. and i basically just tie knots at the beginning and end, and leave the loose strands at the ends so they can be tied. i've already made four so far, i'm getting pretty into it. haha, i'll probably sell them during the summer, whichever ones i don't keep for myself or give away as gifts. :D thanks for all the advice. it's always appreciated.

    peace&hemp.. :)

You got it just about right. With the tying at the beginning and ends and with taking and making strands for the middle and longer ones for the outside. I just make longer ones for the outside thats all......Reallllllly long ones and then just fold them in half for the outer strands. Good to hear u are enjoyin urself. Good luck. Keep me updated: Peace and good hemp makin deary

alright, so a couple friends and i made a whole bunch of sweet beads. but now my problem is that the holes in the beads are too small for the hemp to fit through. any suggestions on how to push the threads through? it most likely just takes patience.

Either that.. or sometimes you just need a bigger hole on the bead.

i think so. the bead-make-hole-bigger-thing is made of metal. strong enough to make the hole, gental enough to not to break the bead
