My mom and I were in goodwill earlier today and she said to me

"Britt, I've been calling around looking for a specialist to teach you how to take care of dreadlocks. I figure by June-July your hair will be long enough for some nice dreads"

I was dumbfounded when I heard this! I'd spent months trying to convince her, and here she was saying yes! I'm just so happy

wow hahah cool, a specialist. those will be some fancy dreads
    congratulations on your mother's approval

i'm doing naturals so my hair isn't all the way dreaded yet, but my mom was visiting last week and i hadn't seen her for a while, and she saw my hair and was like 'are you dreadlocking your hair?' and i said yeah, and she was like 'lovely'

and then she was asking more questions and what i have to do to my hair and if she could feel them and if i had a favorite

Well, I don't want a perm and if they offer me wax I shall respectfully decline. I just can't find anyone willing to help me. Everyone is against me getting them, my friends and extended family alike. So I decided to take matters into my own hands.

The lady is going to section off and backcomb it all for me, then its up to me to take care of them :)

that's what I did. I don't backcomb them a lot. I talk about doing it a lot but I am busy doing fun things so I don't do it. I like my dreads. I bet you'll like yours. And good you are doing what you want. If anyne fusses at you, just ask them whose hair it is :)
