Hey! Been on holiday to Belgium with the family for a week so haven't had the chance to reply until tonight. I am from Stoke-on-Trent, England [IMG] I was at the G8 last summer protesting. It was my first experiences of mass demonstrations on the Saturday and Wednesday. It's a shame the Anarchists ruined the protest past the hotel on the Wednesday though (stupid bar-stewards!). Maybe we passed each-other at some point.....

    Peace

The foolish Celt from Edinburgh with his sickening picture of a teen-age runt sucking on a pot-cigar should be preserved in a godamn bottle filled with rubbing alcohol and exhibited in grammar schools across the civilized countries of the world as a preventitive of drug abuse and it's consequences.

Has anybody noticed that an admitted drunk like me, has flawless spelling, grammar and punctuation? Hah! Must just be an early education unruined by drug abuse.

I thought they did personally, but that's just my experience of the events. On the Wednesday, as far as I am aware, they halted the protest for over an hour by sitting on the floor at the front to 1) stop the G8 leaders getting to the hotel (quite why they thought they would arrive by car through the protests I don't know) and then 2) to stop the food getting to the hotel (it's a hotel!). I then didn't get to finish the protest and go past the G8 meeting hotel. The police used the violence at the weekend as an excuse to randomly search people at the Asylum Center too and Anarchists also began smashing locals windows in some areas. I don't tar all Anarchists with the same brush though. That would be no different to any other form of prejudice in my opinion. I don't think Anarchism would work, despite that I have a lil playful fascination with the idea of it, but in my opinion they do the 'left' nothing good most of the time because people like me get associated with them by the media and it gives capitalist propaganda the excuse to brand the entire 'left' under one umbrella as violent and idiotic. I'd love for some, even partial and uneasy, alliance to occur between Marxists and Anarchists, but, well, that certainly isn't going to happen any time soon.......

    Peace

Do you have nothing better to do? You tosser! He's not a Celt, the picture isn't sickening, you're affiliation to grammar schools is a perfect example of how up-yourself and stupidly conservative you are, and you're not funny. Go play your pathetic games elsewhere and leave us to debate and talk about what we choose to on here. Picking on someone who is young compared to most on this forum is so pathetic. At least he is trying and learning - that's the whole idea of developing. He's 15, so what? His opinion is just a valid as yours. So much for maturity with age.......

    Peace.

Well, Good Morn Viet-- if he's from Edinburgh, Scotland, he's a Celt (prounounced Kelt, for I am one--Irish.)

You ignorant twit, haven't you noticed that there is a special place for all these drug-addled, teeny-boppers to spill their heinous crimes? It's called "YOUNG HIPPIES", as if there could be such a thing, or if anyone with half a brain would want to be one.

I, a real hippie or beatnik (I prefer beatnik, but I was in NYC and SF on time to be called either), would have run these lame, moronic, wanna-be's-- back to Jersey or the Queens or Fresno or Saultilito.

You have the right to your naive opinion--- just post your juvenile squirming musings at "Young Hippies"; that way, I won't have to read your nonsensical gibberish.

Geez! Aren't we feeling a bit bitchy today. One of the nice things about the 60's was that the young could hang with the old and be treated with equal respect. You know having been somewhere doesn't necessarily mean you're a part of it. Another thing. This is posted in the hippie thread, not in the sub topics young hippie or old hippie. If you truly were a hippie, I don't see much left in you. Just another cranky conservative. IMO

I never claimed to be a "hippie". I thought even then that a lot of them were foolish, spoiled, ignorant wastrels. I went to NYC and SF because that was where Henry Miller, Kerouac and Jack London had been. I was basically a spy from rural America. Before I left NYC for good in 1968, I tended bar at a Bowery wino-bar as well as delivering "The East Village Other" with my 50 Chevy once a week all over Manhattan to news-stands. You might say I had my feet in both worlds, which is what a writer should do.

Some of these hippie-heros like Burroughs and Kerouac were either libertarian or conservative. They actually accomplished something, which is more than 99% of the hippies did.

There's no cannabis in that cigar.

Nice to see you think you know everything.

Thudly if you think that you are so much smarter and superior to the hippies and the youth that share some of the same views and beliefs, then why do you post on this site, if your purpose is to judge everyone and call them ignorant because they dont have the views that you have then you should just find another site.

"I, a real hippie or beatnik (I prefer beatnik, but I was in NYC and SF on time to be called either),"

I never claimed to be a "hippie"

    umm actually you did.

Trevor-- good question! I post here because I was looking for my loft-sharing, intellectual, hippy-chick fucking friend who I hadn't heard from in close to 37 years. 100% of these wet-behind-the-ears teeny-boppers weren't even born then.

    I found him.

He doesn't post here, but we';re going to meet for the first time in 37 years this summer at Martha's Vineyard, where he has a beachfront-home near the Kennedy compound.

He suffer's idiots easier than I.

And, Trevor, names and defitions are only disguises some of us wear-- like Halloween rags and tags.

well im glad that you found him, and i agree that names are only disguises that some of us wear. My point is only that most of us "teeny boppers" arent trying to say that we know everything, we only wish to speak our views of how we see this world and what should be done to improve it, if you see flaws in our views why not try to educate us with your knowledge and past experiences so maybe we can rethink our views, instead of just insulting us and dismissing our point of view.

Sadly most people only care about themselves but god bless those who reach out to help others and make an effort to save the earth.

Trevor, I'm a mean old man who has suffered a bit and fervently wish others don't do the same. I firmly believe that booze and drugs are the Devil's insrtuments. I know this-- Satan materialized in my living room last winter when I was a 2 week vodka drunk. He assumed the appearance of a young man and I couldn't get rid of him. He said he was content to wait.

I'm joining the Catholic Church as a result, and thinking of entering a retreat.

The Devil exists; so does God.

It took me 55 years of sinning to realize it.Don't any of you repeat my error-- the time is getting short.
