Mental Illness in general As brutal as Cancer, Diabetes, HIV etc are - 99% of these can be either avoided (during the majority of a persons life) or treated through lifestyle changes. If there was a vacine that could be given that balanced brain chemsistry and took away the suffering that many people go through with mental difficulties that cause them to rely on prozac, zoloft, valium (insert gov't approved narcotic here) as well as extensive talk therapy - it would be the single greatest achievement and benefit to society that modern medicine has ever achieved. ....and due to the vast differences in all kinds of depression, OCD, bipolar, BPD etc, etc, out there, it probably will never happen. It would be a damn great thing thoug if they could find a cure - would ease a lot of suffering.
excessive human firtility. not infertility but fertility. so that by attritition there would, over time, cease to be too damd many of us. if and when we cure that, nearly all diseases will cease being as big a problem as they are. bucause diseases are part of nature's way to attempt to maintain balance of populations of different species in ecosystems. =^^= .../\...
i cant pick just one. My sis has diabetes, my aunt is a breast cancer survivor, grandpa died from cancer, uncle died from cancer another uncle died from heart disease.
cancers and cardivascular malfunctions are both stress related. stress comes from aggressiveness. and that comes from, well a variety of factors, mostly cultural, but over population IS an element in all of them. =^^= .../\...
word.... what a great post. I'm sorry, I know that cancer and all those things suck but they do serve as population controls. Mental health just causes suffering, the only way it affects the population is when people commit suicide - and the percentage of that is fairly low compared to the total number of people who suffer from mental disorders
I'd have to say AIDS.. I found out at the end of last year my aunt has it.. Her boyfriend cheated with his ex, contracted it from her, and gave it to my aunt without knowing.. I always knew AIDS was real but it's as clear as a slap in the face when it's someone you're related to.. and love.
