    Hey Kathy,

There is enough information to find on the internet about meditations methods. My advice is try to meditate while you are eating, walking, typing, having sex, doing the dishses, playing guitar etc etc.

The purpose of meditation is to 'clean' your head, to silence your thoughts, to watch them come and go, when there is Rest inside of you, you are open to receive the wonders of Life. You, me and all that is a gift out of Love.

    Love and peace,
    auke

i dunno exactly what meditation is,but try to see the wonder of the universe.check out the sun rays bathing a bug that crawls to god knows where,in it's daily struggles. observe the bright blue sky.observe the trees and their many leaves, imagine the sap being extracted from the soil, climbing up the tree like an orgasm,up to the ends of each leaf, being soaked in light.observe the colorfulness of a flower.
stop and observe these wonders each time they appear before your eyes and see their beauty and their miracle of being.
then remind you of your fears and worries and make a connection between yourself and the universe.

    Close your eyes ;)

To start meditation it's easier to begin in a area where it's quiet. I mean it's allready hard enough to focuss your thoughts on one subject without external distraction.

First get into that. When you are into it then try to do the same exercise(meaning focussing on one subject) during a activitie. Focuss on eating while you are eating. Try not to think about other things, feel, experience and listen to what the food is saying while you are eating. Explore the taste of every ingredient of the substance your a chewing on.

    have a nice journey :)

Meditation i think when its practiced, is being in love with yourself and the universe.

Its the motionless, and whats ever in motion. In one. Its every wave rising and falling in one.

The sound of the stream is the way to enter into it.

    To quote from Sogyal Rinpoche's book 'The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying';

    - When one past thought has ceased and a future thought has not yet risen, in that gap, in between, isn't there a consciousness of the present moment, fresh, virgin, unaltered by even a hair's breadth of conecpt, a luminous, naked awareness?
Well, that is what Rigpa is!

    - Yet it doesn't stay in that state forever, because another thought suddenly arises, doesn't it?
This is the self-radiance of Rigpa.

    - However, if you do not recognise this thought for what it really is, the very instant it arises, then it will turn into just another ordinary thought, as before. This is called the 'Chain of delusion', and is the root of samsara.

    - If you able to recognise the true nature of the thought as soon as it arises, and leave it alone without any follow up, then whatever thoughts arise automatically dissolve back into the vast expanse of Rigpa and are liberated.

My problem is that I can't silence my thoughts.. they're too loud I guess.
