If you consider yourself a kid, do you consider your parents hip? If you are a parent are your kids hip?
I dunno. My mom is pretty cool and I guess my dad is too. But I hardly talk to my dad and my mom gets annoying.
my kids are the absolute coolest people on earth. and the smartest, and the most beautiful. I really, honestly believe that. I never believed my parents when they told me the same thing, but now that I'm a parent myself, I realize they meant every word of it.
my son's first requested, paid-for concert was Bob Dylan with Phil Lesh co-bill. He sends me anti-Bush emails and links. He waits for what he calls "mamacita moments" (driving with a friend, listening to "their" radio station and I sing along with Ozzy, Sex Pistols, Metallica (tend to fake that one), Beatles, Stones, Doors, whatever and he will turn to his friend and say: "I told you she was cool." at 14 yet!
my kids errr young adults are awesome,,,, n they think i am pretty weird errrrrrrrrr kewl too..... my younger ones favorite hobby is dumpster diving and has been since she was a baby,,,, the older one does her thing right along side of me and as she becomes more secure and mature in herself and surroundings and mebeomes cooler everyday... its great to see them go out into society as kids and young teens n then slowly back on out of it cuz it isnt right for them just as it wasnt n isnt right for me...
My mom isn't very cool. but she's nice if I behave like a monk. my dad was a cool hippie once, and that coolness sometimes comes through. like yesterday when I after a hard night with cops and alcohol came home at sunrise. he had just got out of bed and asked where I'd been. "Out. with some friends. I had to walk home, there were no buses." he just said "allright" and I went to bed I thought he would kill me with words and voice. and today when he notices some unknown person were at our house yesterday and left her/his bike (I had a movie night with some friends and some other people), and didn't come back for it, he just said "I can take it, it's a good bike."
My parent's aren't that cool. They're alcoholics so they don't even know what's going on half the time. *shrug*
My parents are both very groovy folks, so we get along pretty good. I've been living at home with them off and on over the past few years since highschool, and asside from some rough spots here and there I really enjoy having them that close and vice versa. They treat me like an adult, I have my space, and so long as I show my apreciation for the free room and board with the odd chore around the house, all is good.
My dad is absolutely hip... I love hangin with him and talking bout his days spent as a surf loving hippy haha... My mum grew up in a little Pacific Island... So she's a little bit "traditional" though she can be extremely groovy when she feels like it.
