ok, so this is kind of embarassing, but i really need advice. i have had my nipple ring for three years. it was a quick, easy healing and i've never had any problems with it until now. the embarassing part to share with you is that in the past few months, my breast size has grown a lot and i think this might have something to do with the problems with my piercing. it has gotten very irritated and seems to be growing out toward the surface. behind the holes now, are bumps of scar tissue that seem to be getting bigger. i had been using saline sollution on it and moving the ring back and forth like i did when it was first done, but this doesn't seem to be helping and i am really scared because i just woke up this morning and it was bleeding and appears to have ripped near one of the holes. i am afraid that the scar tissue is going to keep growing until the ring is totally pushed out and i'm going to have a really disfigured nipple. is there anything i can do to make it heal? or should i just take it out? is it possible that it somehow got infected? please, please give any advice! should i just go for it and head to a doctor?

take it out asap. when it starts to reject there is a very little chance you can get it to stop rejecting and heal. dont mess around with nipples, infection problems are detrimental. if you feel like your breast is getting unusually sore, go to the emergency room and explain the problem. i dont want to scare you to much, but swelling and soreness is the begining stages of mastitus. take it out now, and you should be fine. no body mod is worth a serious health risk.

Yes take it out or it will probably reject, and if you don't want a disfigured nipple then you should take it definitly.
But also I heard you should clean it and let it heal before taking it out if its infected because the infection can stay in your body.
So I say go to a piercing place and ask them, they can probably help you out with healing it or give you sure advice.
And there's no need to be embarrassed, its just a boobie. :p

well, i called the shop in town and unfortunately, their piercer is out today. :-( but i made an appointment to go in tomorrow. i'm really embarassed to be showing this guy my nasty bleeding nipple. i'm really worried. i'm so afraid that my nipple is going to have permanent bumps of scar tissue or some other disfigured weird looking shit. i have no idea what caused this problem! i took really good care of it, it's never been ripped or anything. is it possible that the problem was caused just because my boobs started getting bigger? i've gained some weight in the past few months and it seems that most of it went there. maybe the changing shape of my body caused it to get irritated? i just don't know. i've never had a problem like this with any of my piercings. this sucks. i'm just going to keep it clean until tomorrow and see what the person at the shop has to say. thanks for your replies guys.

your scar tissue will probably still be there, but it will be minimum if you take it out liek everyone said. if you keep letting it reject more scar tissue will form. good luck.

well, i figured i'd post a little update just incase any one else has a similar problem. i went down to the piercer today and he said that the infection doesn't look bad. he said that gaining weight probably was a factor because the pressure would have started to push it out. also, i had in a ring, which he said would basically act like a lever pushing itself out. so i've been cleaning it really well and he changed it to a curved barbell to relieve the pressure. he says that if i continue cleaning it like i have been it should be fine within 1 or 2 weeks! so all is well and i get to keep my piercing. yay!

I had the same problem with my tragus.. the tissue inside my ear started to grow out and around my tragus piercing, I left it and it got really bad and had to take it out, its now infected, im on anti-biotics and when they are finished I have to go to the doctor and he is going to cut the lumps off. Take It Out, It will save you time and money!

I really don't think it's necessary for me to take it out at this point. After only a few days with the new jewelry and a lot of care in washing it, etc I am noticing a HUGE difference. It doesn't sting anymore, no bleeding and the bumps have gone down a LOT. It's looking really good. And it doesn't hurt at all. There is a very tiny amount of crusty stuff on one side, but I wash it and do saline soaks several times a day. I think it's going to clear up and be just fine. I'm so glad I went back to the piercer because he reassured me a lot and I think the change in jewelry has made the biggest difference because there's not so much pressure now. I think the bumps I had were not all scar tissue, but a spot where the infection was trapped in and getting constantly aggravated by the jewelry. I'm really happy that it's turning out well AND I get to keep my piercing. If for any reason it starts up again, then I'll go to a doctor, but it looks like I'm going to be fine and Rob, the piercer, sounded very confident that it wasn't a big deal and would be easily fixed.

NEVER remove the jewelry from a piercing that you even THINK may be infected!!! Go to a shop or a hospitol, but never remove the jewelry. All that does is make sure that the infection has no out, so it will build and spread. Leaving the jewelry in will ensure that the infection has a way to drain; nasty as it, it has to be able to drain.

If your nipple ring migrates out of your body,,, let it heal,,,the scar tissue will anchor your next nipple piercing should you get it pierced again. Clean with warm water and clean it good,,,, wear light material and sleep with your breasts touching nothing,,,
